The leader of the Lord's Resistance Army peace talks negotiating team, David Nyekorach Matsanga, has refuted reports that he has been sacked from his job.

The Juba-based Sudan Tribune newspaper reports today that the entire LRA negotiating team has been disbanded by rebel leader.
Matsanga said the reports are concoctions fuelled by his enemies who are opposed to the peace process. He said spoke to the LRA leader, Joseph Kony, who denied all knowledge of the sacking.

David Nyekorach Matsanga, who led the LRA peace delegation at recent talks in Sudan before being sacked by Joseph Kony in April, claimed this week that he has been reappointed by the leader to head a six-member team to negotiate a settlement to the fighting, according to the Daily Monitor paper.

However, James Obita, another member of the group, claimed he had been given the job of representing the reclusive leader. Obita was in Kampala this week to try to persuade the government not to launch any military attacks on the rebels. Kenyan president Kenyatta’s war crimes trial to be suspended
The war crimes trial of Kenya’s President Uhuru Kenyatta could be suspended for at least a year under a diplomatic deal to be put to the United Nations.
Western diplomats are preparing a UN Security Council resolution that would put the International Criminal Court (ICC) case on hold after the African Union lodged objections to the trial.
Sources said the resolution was to avoid a damaging stand-off between the court and African states over charges faced by Mr Kenyatta of orchestrating post-election violence that killed more than 1,000 people in 2007-08.
Mr Kenyatta has said he is reluctant to attend the opening of his trial in The Hague on Nov 12 after judges agreed to alternate his appearances with the hearing for William Rutto, the vice-president, who is also charged.
However, an extraordinary summit of the African Union on Saturday issued an ultimatum to the court to stop the case, warning judges that Mr Kenyatta must not be compelled to face trial.
