Terrorism in Malls. How to use architecture to prevent attacks.

So... now that many building are not particularly 'counter -terrorism compliant', and cannot be pulled down, what measure/adjustments can be made to improve on what exists? Eg WestgatE.

@jk...interior and exterior design alterations to create larger windows, balconies and corridors to the existing buildings eg westgate. Moving the corridors and shop entrances to the front facade/wall will also help.

Architect Oscar Newman, Timothy Crowe et al have researched deeply into architecture and criminology. They are a good read if you have the time.

Am glad yu came back and wrote informative article as yu promised me on call. We were quite concerned on the other side of Club SK. We were also wondering approximately how long will it take to rebuild Westgate? In view of this article yu av written, what is your take on the new Thika Road Mall's design?

Wish there is a way this info can get into the public domain. Looks like Kenya is learning on the go ie After the US embassy attack we learnt to have our embassies off CBD. This info in the public domain will help check architectural designs
