when I got my first piece of land... i felt proud and accomplished (it cost me an arm and a leg - but that is a different matter). I can only imagine how empowered the people of coast are feeling now! for older folk - that they have something that they can leave to their kids with a degree of surety that its theirs to do as the plan. an inheritance! for younger folk - a factor of production! a source of livelihood... finally the people of coast can start saying

its a great moment for 60k families...a great moment!

well said brother...

while agree with you about getting the title deeds it would also be naive not to look at the political angle.
what will be used in future to bait the people of coast politically d'oh! d'oh!

lets learn to acknowledge when good things happen. after all politics are meant to be our way to these good stuff. plus even after the land issue has been sorted we have lots and lots of more issues to sort don't we? the land issue is 50 years old don't you think its about time it gets resolved?

In what appeared to be a change of heart, the leaders Friday showered praise on President Kenyatta and his deputy William Ruto for addressing the land problem. The excited leaders fell short of declaring support for Jubilee come the next General Election and instead said “the people will decide”

Going by all indications so far, President Uhuru Kenyatta may turn out to be the most performant president yet.

Looking at those elderly Kenyans getting their title deeds, one can almost feel the excitement on their behalf. And perhaps, if they're honest, they'd probably tell you they don't really care who gives them the document just as long as it helps them secure what is rightfully theirs. Whereas previous gov'ts have only given the issue lip service, here is UK who's willing to take the bull by the horns to get on with it. And hey, who am I to begrudge him his camera moment? I say, let him continue in that spirit. Those are 60,000 families who'll probably have a peaceful night's sleep for once in their lifetime.

Title deeds.

Old poverty ridden men.

May the willing seller, willing buyer frenzy begin.

So. What is the going prize for a piece of land at the coast?

Do guys here work for newspapers/ media houses...... and gutter press as well?
I note the flowery kinda savvy style of writing from contributers..
phrases like 'yet again' 'in a change of' 'leaders showered' 'fell short'.

Anyways. Might just be me.

As for thhe Titles, that is good move by the president both economically and politically.

Hope he is...the benchmark is low though.
