our culture is to think that white is good black is bad! when someone builds a solution for a problem here and a comparative solution for the same problem exists in white south africa. We will definitely choose the white south african solution. All Mushrooms are edible! Some Mushroom are only edible ONCE!

i would opine that what ails africa and the world , because the ills outlined by kysse are not relative to africa only, is the language or mode of communication employed by the human race, the folly of the system of language we have around is that it is subject to a plethora of interpretation, a person may unequivocally say something but people will always construe it otherwise so as to render the initial meaning of the message lost. suppose humanity developed a language or mode of communication that wasnt subject to interpretation as in anything that needed to be done was posited and there was no two way about it, i think this would cure the ails mentioned above. lets draw some inference from the animal kingdom, animals communicate through a language that is not subject to a host of variable views for their survival in the wild, i mean when an animal hints at danger it will behave in a certain way that other animals will pick on and consequently run for safety, when in heat an animal will also behave in a certain way such that its mate will pick on and mate, from these examples and many more i have not mentioned we can see that there is no room for mixed signals in the animal kingdom resulting in the order we see in the animal world. these are my thoughts! these are my thoughts! Within the ambit of the phrase 'mode of communication' what you are asking for is a concentration camp? A global concentration camp, No? Where the anything that needed to be done is posited without deviation, right? Who will give these instructions and whom will be expected to follow those instructions? It could be argued that the white man has attempted this very idea with the black man (the black man being equated with the beast) with the result being that the black man is in a concentration camp alright but is not doing what has been posited.

Excuse my long post (copy and paste) THE GREAT RAPE OF AFRICA Over the course of history, Africa has been the go-to place for slaves for at least 4 major world empires, none of which were black. For the Greek, Persian, Roman and perhaps most prolificly, the British empire, Black Africans have been a source of everything from gladiators to cotton pickers. This is not even counting the many European exploits of the French, Portuguese and Dutch in between the greedy fingers of the British. It is no small wonder then that much of what is indigenous to black culture and history has been eroded by the wanton, indiscriminate plunder of the continent. Even though the rape of Africa was finally repealed back in the late 1980's, black Africans have largely become Europeanized, speaking multiple European languages, having a number of pseudo European cultural idiosyncrasies, taking up European religions, becoming dependent on European states, migrating to European states, and viewing the world with European eyes. It is commonly said that history is written through the eyes of the winners and there is no exception to that rule here. Much of what we know about human history was documented either by Europeans or at least descendants of Europeans. Only recently since they have grown a conscience about their previous methods have they now chosen to reveal just how bad their fore fathers were (and consequently, just how deep this cultural indoctrination goes). To be fair however, there were many barbaric practices among indigenous African tribes that have largely been undone by European indoctrination. Everything from the replacement of the indigenous Voodoo religion with Christianity (even though some mutations of both still exist), to other practices that saw the death of innocent women and children. Europeans have also introduced democratic systems of government and languages that are now tools of commerce. Europeans have also invested heavily in the development of many African states, bringing them leaps and bounds into the future where those investments paid off. They have greatly introduced science and technology, modern medicine (and some conspiracy theorists suggest, even modern disease), hospitals, schools, roads, and a great deal of modern infrastructure. So European indoctrination is not all bad. Africa has come a long way since its initial invasion. Then again, one could have also argued that such a statement is directly a result of European indoctrination. A suitable counter argument then would be that Afrocentric views are equally biased, glossing over the many barbaric practices that still thrive in Africa today, as well as conveniently omitting the fact that the great slave trade would not have been possible had Africans not sold their own into slavery without coercion. Yes, history is written by winners. The rest is cognitive dissonance. When you really think about it, mankind originated in Africa, left Africa to populate the rest of the world, returned to Africa with a vengeance, and plundered it mercilessly. What's even worse is that Africa is the single most mineral rich land on the planet. Technically, black people should be the richest people in the world, but nature granted the knowledge and know how to mutations of man that didn't occur in Africa, leaving its indigenous residents at their mercy. If there is a God, then the history of Africa is the story of God's most cruel joke on mankind. Consequently, that is yet another reason why I don't believe in God. While I've already waxed philosophical on why I believe that God is a creation of man (and not the other way around), it is important to distinguish at this point, that the Christian God is most likely the engineering of white men which not surprisingly laid the foundation for racism in its more modern iterations. In fact, I still don't understand why there are any black people in the Mormon Church at all. So why were black folks so easily indoctrinated? If there is a God, then the history of Africa is the story of God's most cruel joke on mankind.

The 'killing of God', the 'belief' in mutations, natural selection, belief in evolution has what has contributed to this situation that you now surprisingly attribute to God. Because, logically, if He does not exist then how can you say He is responsible. He will have to exist first then He can be responsible. For a time certain peoples, the black man and the aborigine were looked at sub-human, as beast. A view that came about from the belief that they are still evolving and have not yet reached person-hood, the human being. It therefore makes sense that you give, in post #14, a singular reason as 'genetics'. You and the author are part of the problem of what ails Africa.

There seems to be some sort of urgency to "develop" and be see to have been "developed" overnight! We psychologically need the brownie points so that we can see ourselves like other races. its like there is an end date ti it all or a line to be crossed and the last race across that line will perpetually be considered as inferior. So we psychologically try to understand the reasons that we have not gotten there in the last 50 years as being caused by [type in your explanation here]. We fail to realize that the last 200 years are but a drop in the ocean in as far as human culture is concerned. We are developing... time is not running out. For me, its governance and leadership. Everything else is just a subset of the above. We have not found a way to govern ourselves successfully, the day we get there is the day our problems end. Falling over ourselves trying to please others...this is as a result of leadership and as kysse says, inferiority complex. Look at the tension btn Rwanda and TZ why wouldn't the 2 leaders just meet and discuss the issue?? "There are only two emotions in the market, hope & fear. Just to add on to what Rollout has said; my take is that of the game theory which states that in order for me to win you must lose. We mistakenly believe that there is not enough for everyone. This was ingrained in Kenyans under the divide and rule system employed by the British colonial government which also established the class system. A few loyal Africans (read hyenas) were elevated above the others and this continues to date. What we lack is great leadership which seeks to build everybody. A pure capitalistic society of man eat man as Nyerere described Kenyans is not the answer but neither is communism which encourages uzembe as someone said above. The late Kijana Wamalwa said that in order to achieve greatness we must stand on the shoulders of those greater than ourselves.

Genetically, we might be the same with other races but i stongly believe the mind of the african is not fully developed. And no it has nothing to do with education. Let me illustrate with a county am familiar with.
Kirinyaga county is the richest in kenya, infant mortality rate is lowest there, every kid born in kirinyaga has a very strong chance of attaining post-primary education. Missionaries brought the good word to the people there and they boast of celebrated cleric David Gitari. Reseachers say its the best place to be born in Kenya.
BUT to this day, they are still lynching old people suspected of witchcraft. Indeed, i have never seen people who have such little regard for human life as the good people of Kirinyaga. Everytime i traverse this beautiful county, I always wonder why God was so generous to this land yet soo mean to its inhabitants.

I disagree, Africans were selfish even before the british came, the british did not create a class system, African culture is build around master/slave setting. I am a kalenjin, my great gradma was brough from Maasai before the british to serve my great gradpa. Infact in African culture the man eat first then everyone else with get the leftovers once he is satisfied! If you go to Western cultures kids are fed first.
