Agreed, meru crowd was receptive and huge. Surely it must be heartwarming to Jakom.

Merians must be placing Miraa exports ahead of family ties

It is a subtle message to Kamwana, not to ignore or take them for granted..

in Laare, i read in the newspapers there were some walk outs when speakers started talking bad of UK..

all said and done. its an 80% UK zone..
and when it comes to a runoff.. 95% UK's to take

Totally agree!!!!

[quote=TAZ]@ Mc Reggae and Impunity wacheni kelele hata UK had huge crowds in Kisii and Mombasa both of which are ODM strongholds. Here's RAO's rally in Nyeri...he did attract quite a crowd

true but here is a fundamental difference learnt by missionaries btn westerners and mountainers

In Kakameka for example, an evangelist would be told to be very careful and not cheat himself that a long conversation and polite nodes from locals to his/her preaching meant consent..
the guy would "invite customers at his shop to listen to your good word / explain how hes wanted to quit drinking/ say how even the cow hes now feeding is all a blessing"
rarely shall you get a straight NO! from those guys

In the mountain regions.. if a guy doesn't want to listen to you..They tell you straight in your face..
"sina time yako.. sitaki kuokoka' ahsante sana.. now can you please excuse me.. you are blocking my customers/ making me feel guilty of my drinking/ my cow is hungry and i need to give it this thaara like now"

dont equate the crowds to votes..
and i also dont mean all the turn out in Meru is an indication of RAO making inroads.. just that hes bound to get a little fraction more votes, than UK in Kisii or Kakamega, judging by crowd turn out

I am sure Cord strategy has written off Mt. Kenya region, they are simply hoping for say aka 10 - 15% around there and maybe 5% of Kyuk votes.

Should be doeable. Plus seeing such crowds forces UHURUTO to rush back to reaffirm their support hence keeps them away from the swing areas.

Kipipiri, Nyandarua, in 1994.

MP Laban Muchemi is dead. By elections follow.

KANU fronts Christopher Njiriri alias Joe Maina. DP has Mwangi Githiomi.

Moi holds a rally there in the last weekend before the polls. A mammoth rally it was(by all standards not just KBC).

The crowds answer in the affirmative when asked if they will vote for Joe Maina. And Moi and his team go on making grand promises how they will develop Kipipiri.

The results after the polls: Maina(KANU) circa 4,000, Githiomi(DP) circa 11,000 votes.

So embarrassing was it for MO1 that they had to remove electricity poles erected before the elections!

Crowds!

If CORD loses, I will blame them for not milking that all-too-important issue of sanctions.

Tell the voters that they wont sell their tea and coffee outside Kenya and you will squeeze out some following from your opponent's strongholds!

CORD is also assuming Mutahi's tyranny is 100% true. They are, therefore buying into the idea that Kiambu county has 860,000 native votes while the rest of central has around 200,000 to 450,000 votes.

My thinking is that it would be easier(and more beneficial) to get 10% in urbanised Kiambu than in Nyeri where they are fond of holding meetings in halls.

They say a picture is worth a 1000 words.
When you look at the photos, look for emotion, drive, determination, etc on the faces of the people in the photo....not just the crowds.

As you put it, if the crowds there translated to the 35% of Meru vote, it would be a steal for CORD in this region, ama what do u think. Nobody expects an outright win here for CORD

20% on the higher side. Most likely to range btwn 10 and 15%.

Now imagine CORD in the urban Kiambu areas getting 15%. This would be 15%of 860,000. 129,000 votes assuming 100% turnout! But they wont campaign in 45, Kahawa, Ruiru, Thika Kiambu, Ruaka and Kikuyu areas coz Mutahi Ngunyi has zoned the entire county for njumbirii.
