its a tough call,.

For Messi's chances to be realistic,... he has to be given the ball early.. not with a month or two to go.. He is not a natural poacher.

Ruto's/Uhuru's political bases may not automatically vote as a block if a major change is done last minute especially if the two are not on ballot paper as presidential candidate or Running mate

@waza i agree with you totally.i dont understand all the fascination with messi and the guy is still polling under 5%.It is a dangerous game to have sold UK to the people and then all over sudden say Messi is the guy.He has no charisma, cannot attract crowds on his own and he has simply been unable to connect with the voter. What is it this guyz pushing for him to be flag bearer know that the rest of us dont know.is there going to be a magic wand waved and all UK and Ruto followers will come voting for him.Messi is a weak candidate and i just dont see him beating Rao.

My only worry is, all this supporters from all sides, they show up in large numbers yet only a few have registered. May be IEBC should give us finally figures of which counties have registered more pple, then we can start working out the equations.

The figures are out there watch citizen tv online or ktn i think up until thursday 6.56m people had registered.nairobi, central, rift, som parts of nyanza make up a good portion of the 6.5m.lets wait and see what happens in the next 2 week but if this similar trend continues i think some people should start getting worried.

here is the citizen clip

Uhuru knows this. Messi is the best chance for the TNA alliance to take the next elections. Ruto, ever the sly one, has probably seen the writing on the wall. The 40 odd or so MP’s from central who made noise were probably told the truth.

We Kenyans have a particular way of voting (and callingsmile ). We never vote based on manifestos (what’s that?) or anything else except personalities. We either vote for someone we like or against someone we dislike more than the other.

If Uhuru and RAO are the two front runners, Central would vote for Uhuru, Rift Valley against Uhuru (2008 PEV, historical land issues, and yet another Kikuyu), coast against Uhuru (land issues) and Western for RAO. RAO wins the elections.

If Messi and RAO are the two front runners, Central would vote against RAO (surprised?), Rift Valley against RAO, coast against RAO and Western for Messi. Messi wins the elections.

That’s why RAO fears running against Messi more than Uhuru.

Never underestimate the power of fear.i wouldn't say it will be easier for Rao if Uk was on the ballot. Many kenyans fear a Rao presidency and that fear will carry the day if Uk is on the ballot.it is not black and white as you put it.Messi iss not that popular

I never wrote that Messi is popular. What I wrote is that Kenyans either vote for or against someone, with own tribe being the foremost criteria. That’s the whole key.

For example, if it were only RAO and Tuju vying for the presidency, Central would overwhelmingly vote against RAO and not for Tuju because he’s more popular. Same scenario but Nyanza; RAO would trump and Tuju would lose big time. Now if it were only Kenneth / Uhuru and Nyanza had to choose between the two, who do they loath (maybe fear) more? Get the difference? Now see why RAO desperately wants to run against Uhuru and not Messi. Look where RAO’s first campaigning stop was after the coalition agreements. RAO fears Messi and it’s not because he’s more popular. RAO understands tribal voting patterns.

@ash ock, you nailed it. Fear and love will be the main determinants. @itz, Kenyans fear Raila? I dont think so. Kenyans from certain voting blocs fear Raila.

I used to hear similar stories in 2007. Only Kalonzo can defeat Kibaki, kenya isn't ready for luo presidency...
Mudavadi had months to convince ODM delegates to elect him but he bolted out of the race how will he convince the delegates he has never met once to vote for him? Will they vote at county level as he had advocated while in ODM?

The opinion poll was conducted on 7 political regions that include; Mombasa, Machakos, Nairobi, Garissa, Nakuru, kisumu and Kakamega. Why did they ignore Central province?

I think UMK is prepared to "lose" to MDVD and all he is doing now is preparing his "people for that "eventuality".Here is why i think so.Each party will provide 20 delegates from each county, thus each party will have a total of 940 delegates. There will be two contestants and thus, for a start UMK and MDVD will each have 940 votes assumably.......which leaves URP delegates to determine the winner.....Which way the URP delegates ??....my two Zim cents.

@mastermind i ask myself the same question.I ask wazuans to look at the numbers to date for voter registration.I think there is something happening there and people should start paying attention.I still maintain that Messy would be a weak candidate he cannot go toe to toe with the ODM heavy hitters
