There is no automatic renewal.
Before the end of the term YOU decide if you want to renew, and hassle for the best new rate of interest. If you agree it is renewed at the new rate. If not you get your capital plus interest and can shop around for a better rate.
At the moment, out of the "safe" banks I think I&M give a good rate.
Otherwise go for T bills or Bonds.

What are the current rates for say 1M 1 Year.
Do they have also for USD?

Kindu 6.75% pa for I&M.

While T-bills are at11.67% for 364 day.
Portfolio: Sold

@mwekez@ji ... Other than going door to door, emails, know of any site that compares updated FCY FDR rates? Other than I&M i'm yet to see a bank that has their foreign currency FDR rates on display

If a certain coalition wins then USD rate will hit 150 by June 2013; dump and wait for rate to come down.

That is why I support that unnamed coalition.

And Money Market Unit Trusts are currently better than T-Bills. Check out Britam and CIC

Me too, though silently.
My foreign currency reserve is good with that coalition but what next after dumping the USDs?

The quoted figures are net of management fees and withholding taxes!

Figures are listed in the newspapers daily... on the same page as stocks and currencies.

My January statement at CIC has just arrived, the fund earned an average of 9.39% pa net - this is the amount credited to my account.

90-day T Bills were hovering around 8.5% in the same month.

What about Amana?

I don't know anything about Amana apart from that they report higher returns than everybody. But who's their tall uncle?

CIC has Co-Op bank behind it

Britam has Eqty

ICEA is, well, huge in it's own right.

etc

How about Amana? Who knows?

For that reason, I am hesitant to put my money with them.
