And mine were specifically meant for "visits to uncle's place" once per year if I was lucky to travel.
I was told they were made from Nile Perch's "mondo".( I dont know what mondo was or is up to date!)

Reminds me of the first time I touched a girl's nyonyos woi! I was around this age I suppose, and She was too willing while I almost died of shock, they were shockingly very hard, I couldn't understand. I remember cursing the devil for temptig me, but i couldnt bring myself to stop lol!.......That was the best day of my entire early life.

...Yeah..I also remember...Nyonyo za siku hizo were a bit hard...Za siku hizi ukishika ni kama unashika maji!!!

That Tin.....used to carry chai on lower 'cabin' and mkate on the upper 'cabin'.Most of the time,loaf was soaked wet by break time,or missing altogether from bitings during lessons...Do they still exist?
