Question, is it an underground metro or surface one?

Highly unlikely to be underground.

Underground costs more to construct.
Water table in Nairobi I hear is quite close to the surface..

Water table doesn't affect underground rail. Cost do. Nairobi should explore and develop surface one. Early to think of underground

Rail.....gari meme

na blackout ikikuja?

Tutatoka tutembee ama tukwame Laughing out loudly I hope that wont happen but its likely with the vandalism going on.

@Jamplu....I should think so

Electric trains do not only rely on commercial grid, they come equipped with their own generatos. note also that we would have to build a new grid solely for the rail system, with fallback routes thus ensuring near zero power outage.

I came across a report late last year done by CES and APEC for the Ministry of Transport it had some info that may be give you an idea of Nairobi Metropolitan. If the transit system is implemented then Nairobi and its environs would be different. Thika was part of the plan so things seems to be falling into place considering Thika is already done and they are serious about the nairobi light rail transport system.

Kusema ukweli we are a slow country. Close to 2 years and we're not yet there. If Kidero is serious with sorting out the traffic mess he should be the first to campaign for this . Here is a light rail train ya huko kwa kina kiash https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=r5xWY_OvTHA
