@ associate, let me answer you.
Graduate trainees or clerks as they are known in some of these banks form the bulk of the unionisable staff in the industry. Their union BIFU has been pushing very aggresively to get better terms every year. The latest CBA (collective bargaining agreement) was signed last month and it left gross salary at a minimum of around Kes.58,000.
Now the good news is that some banks actually pay higher that this minimum wage.
The bad news is that a good number of the top banks have discovered a loophole that ensures you are not unionisable. Some banks e.g. Equity bank, will simply not allow you to join a union. Some banks will hire you as a management trainee at a lower salary, while others will engage you on contract terms.
Back to your question, below is my list of best employers in the industry for an entry job.
1. National bank 2. Co-op Bank 3. KCB

Kindly allow me to add something. Majority of the tellers at Equity are not graduates and in all fairness, the salary of Kes.35K they get is more that generous. Actually, most of them are fiercely loyal since they do not have any delusion of getting a better deal elsewhere.

Newly graduated lawyers doing pupillage earn 40k from the 2 highest paying firms, 20 from another and 15k from another 2 or so. The others range from getting nothing to 20k. The law society has no requirements for this unfortunately, and lawyers have no union.
