Safaricom's Sh20.97 billion profit record for 2009 will remain intact in the foreseeable future.

Over time, one of the of the sin vendors like banks or EABL will be more (or most) profitable but the record will remain Safaricom's for while.

Quoting bdafica:

Mr Tiffin said that Safaricom will reduce its capital expenditure by 25 per cent in the second half.

Where will that put the profits...

Half year results may not truly reflect the company's performance since many incomes and expenses earned and incurred during the half year period may be postponed to full year results.

it begs another question, has suffering con made enough capex investment to keep it going for the near future. if indeed yes the oppourtunity lies in getting efficiencies from those spends (eg earning more from the fibre) and maintaining a flat cost base while earning something more in interest from the surplus cash.
