But from where I am (far away from KE) there is a rumour that most of the oil firms are busy running around building storage facilities in EA. Yet to establish which countries they're going to build the storages. But that should confirm that 'the liquid gold' is in EA and in plenty. There is no way the Lamu port is just an idea out of the blues... An Abu Dhabi is in the making here...

Follow the money smile

Hisah
which company is this he is referring to thats scoooped all that land?

That is classified at the moment. But it trades in US...

believe the co. is the African Oil Corp - part of the Lundin Group of Companies.
the company holds six blocks in Kenya: Blocks 9, 10A, 10BB, 10BA, 12A and 13T which are roughly the size Christian was talking about in the presentation -also stock price is hoovering at about $1.45.
Now who will do something about it?

A big celebration for oil - beware we become the next Nigeria or Angola. Kenyan politicians are dirty and will do everything to mess everything up. It's a scary thought.

There are many companies looking for black gold in Kenya.http://www.theeastafrican.co.ke/business/Kenya+could+announce+oil+find+by+the+end+of+2011/-/2560/1246682/-/item/0/-/64ymhiz/-/index.html

Hope you've positioned yourself appropriately. I remember getting into Tullow Oil when it was still exploring in Ug back in 2007.

As one of the most informed Wazua contributors, I am glad to see that you maintain a bullish stance on Kenya in the medium term.

Good times will be coming in the not too distant future.

Rich dudes taking position?

The world’s richest men target Kenya with investment billions

“We want to have a large footprint in East Africa which to us represents enormous potential and is the next growth market,” said Naresh Leekha, the executive director of Tata Africa.

Interesting, however, he has overhyped the whole kenya oil thing and sounds more like a seasoned scam artist.

I am however praying that its true.

Who has overhyped 'the oil thing'?

I thought Tullow's discovery of oil was an open secret...

I know Tullow is drilling exploration wells in Kenya, I am not aware that a discovery has been made. If this has happened, then please let us know.

The overhyping has to do with the quantities he is mentioning and equating Kenyas/East Africa's deposits to Saudi's.

This is speculation of the highest order. Kenya is a good investment destination in E.A due to its geographical location and is developed compared to its neigbours. the oil thing may or may not be true. Just hope but dont be so sure

Seconded. The number of barrels are way overhyped compared to what the company he is discussing has itself published. Has an uncanny resemblance to a classic penny stock scam. Lundin and Tullow do lend some credibility to the firm itself but let us wait and hope for the best.

Make way, for the big boys are rolling in!

Ministry of Energy officials said French oil giant Total and Brazil’s Petrobras will be among the first beneficiaries of the next round of prospecting licence awards early next year.

“We are creating new blocks for big oil firms with the financial muscle and technical capability to prospect,” said Martin Heya, the Commissioner of Petroleum.
