Maybe I worded my statement wrongly. I should have said that Netflix and iTunes are doing exceptionally well despite the US being the biggest source of piracy in the world. The point I am trying to make is that there are important lessons to be learnt from the movie and music industry. It is not a zero sum game where the pirates have to lose in order for the legit producers to win. People pirate because of certain inconveniences, not for the sake of being evil. It is up to sellers to find out what those are and deal with the issue.

The piracy movie business in Kenya is here to stay!Same way over 90% of personal computers running Windows in Kenya are fake.
Every home with a TV today in Kenya almost always has a DVD/VCD player. There is demand for these movies....an original DVD say "Fast Five" would cost nothing less than Ksh 2,500 (1.5Hrs imagine!!) and would be available 6 months down the line after release date!
In short...the cost of chasing after pirates Vs revenue collectable from Fox does not make it economically viable for owners to chase in Kenya.
So do your movie business....it is here to stay.
Formally employed people often live their employers' dream & forget about their own.
