The nyaga biot has nothing to do with a cap. Rather it is reference to the white patch of an ostrich, which is the way the mountain looked from a far.

I beg to differ but just.....Runyaga is not restricted to Ostriches.The name refers to any white patch whether on a goat,sheep,mountain or even a piece of head-gear......Let's do some practice...lolLaughing out loudly

@Njung'e, the ostrich part refers to the way the mountain looks from afar. It looks like an ostrich with its white patches of snow.

a quick one Guka. What does Nyaga mean?? It should mean ostrich, dont you think? Kiri Nyaga, or Kirima kia Nyaga...

Nyaga has three meaning.

1.God.......Mwene Nyaga
2.Nyaga.....Ostrich.
3.Nyaga......White patch.

and don't say that Mwene Nyaga means "Owner of the ostriches"....Laughing out loudly Laughing out loudly Laughing out loudly .

Wrong again. Nyaga means "bright" or "brightness" and I believe is the closest word to white in kiuk.
