Guys lets b fair 2 mutahi...the dude is a gud writer but some here r overrating him.he has simplicity n yet profound thinking.he keeps u jazzed by adding those fables.he tels the truth(mostly) n tho its clear he's an odm supprter n strong in antikibakism,he tries to be balanced.infact,he's told off nt just pnu ldrs bt odm as wel.he told raila n his generals that they built odm on hatred against kikuyus n that they also fanned it themslves...on th othr hand,he gets too monotonous n boring with time,he repeats themes töo often,he stirs up controversy 4 nothing.btw has any1 noted similarity btn him n oyunga pala?they both try to tel u what u think is obvious is actually the opposite.n who reads oyunga these days?

Mutahi Ngunyi articles are read for their folk tale value - for entertainment sake.

Insofar as serious business is concerned, these articles are very removed and highly speculative for any intellectual consideration.

Make no mistake about it,Mutahi is a brilliant chap, but even he knows that his articles are not serious works at any rate.

Infact at one point he offered that he writes largely to provoke public debate.

Let any one gather one years collection of Mutahi's articles and marvels at their contradiction of one another.

One says this while another says exactly the opposite.

Looking at his langauge,he is very non commital,- his stock in trade is supposition.

The article quoted below; - Is it anything you can take to the bank?

Honestly who couldnt speculate like that.

When one speculates on all possible scenarios in each article, what do you expect, invariably, one of the scenarios so discussed is bound to be mirrored in the final analysis. To me that doesnt make him a genius.

@B.Timer.....Is anyone supposed to take that article to a bank? The guy comments/opines on politics which are dynamic, you don't expect him to remain in a time warp. Anyway, your point has been duly noted.

thanks jay r for the brilliant article which bwana ngunyi penned in 2003,that was 4 years before the near genoicide and rigging of elections in 2007: Mutahi wrote what anyone else could not have imagined. sheer ingenuity! just look at the discussion and see the passion and anger he elicits in this forum. even those who don't like him ADMIT they read his articles...anyway! why read someone you don't like? he.. he! great writers are loved and loathed in equal measure, that's why the negative and positive comments are 50/50. if you see a writer loved by all,he's just useless. let me re-paste the prediction made by mutahi ngunyi 4 years prior to the 2007 madness: says he:

'Consider a hypothetical situation here. What would happen if President Kibaki decided to run for re-election in 2007 and lost? Would he and his men have the grace to hand over power peacefully? From the way they have behaved in the last one year,I doubt it. And where would that leave the country? '

no wonder he's the highest paid writer in the kenyan media....and rightly so!wHo.. DaRes.. wIns!

That 2003 re-opened my eyes to the need to respect professional opinions. I retract my earlier sentiments.

Yesterday,he was as entertaining as ever.

As usual cleverly non commital on anything.

Though he deservedly castigated the Constitution experts commitee.

He offered to 'take the article to the bank'.

@Jay-R,- did you read it.
