HAPPY NEW YEAR TO YOU WAZUANS

i hope this year your perceptions of barter trade will change, and embrace this method of doing business with an open mind.

Out of curiosity you are the same Njoroge who was selling us land in kitengela for a while here at Wazua.... hopefully its not the same njoroge who mutated..... Exactly where in the town are those plots?

It is true barter trade does exist and even where land transactions are concerned. My friend exchanged his Landrover for some land in nakuru with a childhood/villagemate friend... HOWEVER, such transactions in kenya can only be safely transacted with people you truly truly know. Hii ya huku Nairobi, one got to have a huge huge risk appetite to get into it...

so @apo, when you see people wary of such a transaction, some its out of experience of their own or those close to them...... And we have had quite a good number of oga's targeting Wazuans in the past so we are quite a skeptical lot. For me, its money-property, car-money. Haakuna njia ingine. Njia ingine ya kwenda waaapi?

Does the price you are giving include the transaction costs? especially the Stamp duty? If not, then you are giving the buyer a raw deal if value if Car= value of land= KShs 1.8M. Secondly, given the preference of cash in Kenya, you better give the guy reason to take a chance on bartering with you. Preferrabley, a financial reason. If all else fails, just go the normal way of selling the plot which takes about 2-3 months then look for a car then.

Happy trading!

@apogeus,

My point exactly! SO why give yourself a raw deal knowingly?

Ngai fafa... now you make this sound worse!!! why would you be willing to take my car worth say 1.6m when you can sell your land for 1.96m (less TC as stated)? thats a whole difference of another 1/8acre further up? Do you hate money that much? mmmmmmmmmh..... what's that.............................. quacking?

wendz please tell me who sets or determines the land prices in kenya? or in this matter second hand vehicles? its a fact that if you approach my neighbor selling a plot for 2m with 1.8m, he would take the money . it all comes down to willing buyer willing seller.(ile shida mtu ako nayo)
people sell their property for various reasons and settle for a price that suits them .
i have sold plots on the same piece of land since 2005 where i sold the first plot for 400k. now i am asking for 1.8m only three plots remaining. now you can see how lucky i am, if now i can ask for a 1.6 to 1.8m vehicle?

lets not forget there is someone out there who is regretting buying a car and is having a hard time selling it. the car is being devalued every day. come and lets do some biashara
