"This was the first time in three years that United have not had a shot on target in a Premier League game."

Thank you Man City for humbling Man Utd 7-1 on aggregate!
Set out to correct the world's wrongs and you will most certainly wind up adding to them.

finally the city superstars have started gelling and getting the results. no team in epl has a squad as good as city's. and they are still buying players, and i suspect mourinho too. next season will be a 2 horse race. man-city and chealsea. man-u will be battling the likes of arsenal and spurs for a top 4 finish.

As an old faithful i reiterate my position in an earlier thread that this season was never going to be a good one for us. I still believe that this united squad is below par as per our high standards. Years gone by we have had great imposing squad members. In our most successful periods we had outstanding individuals to "carry" the less prominent ones.In the "Triple" era we had the quartet of strikers Cole, Yorke, Sheringham and Solskjaer with a midfield of a young Scholes, Beckham, Giggs and Kean and the power house defence of Stam and Irwin. During the same period we had "lesser" players such us Greening, Blomqvist and Johnsen (all first team regulars).
My feeling is that this has always been the trend save for the last two seasons where instead of buying one or two complete "brand" name players we have resorted to "almost" complete in the transfer market. The youth policy on the other hand hasn't been as successful with only three of four players coming up to join the first team in the last four years and again the quality has been poor barring Cleverly and Welbeck.
I wish to be the first one to prematurely concede the title to our "noisy neighbors" since I have never been one to rely on other teams to pull "us" through ..wink wink (Arsenal)smile

As for the upcoming transfer market, my wish list for SAF is as follows

Sell/Loan out
1. Nani - We cant wait forever...sell
2. Anderson - Too many distractions and injuries..sell
3. Berbetov - Going (sad to see him leave.. does anyone remember that he had actually refused to play for Tottenham as he handed in a transfer request for United?)Sad
4. Fabio/Rafael/Evans - Loan out two
5. Park - Sell
6. Scholes - Please retire!
7. Giggs - Ditto Laughing out loudly
8. Owen - Ditto Laughing out loudly
9. Rio - It has to end somewhere...Sell
10. Evra - Warning letter smile

Buy
No candidates as yet but in essence..
1. One accomplished striker to partner Rooney with Welbeck and Chicharito as deputies
2. Two midfielders to replace Nani and Anderson, preferably one "brand" name
3. Buy another accomplished and reliable defender with Jones and smalling as the understudies.
We will be back as always.... so watu wa arsenal (7 years and counting) na fake Citeh supporters..wawache moto)smile
UNITED! UNITED! UNITED! GGMU

the best way of City making history is to win their 2 matches and not to look at the neighbours, maybe just because of the goal difference if need be. 9 is safe to me..

SAF has brought out the best in a fairly average bunch of players and made them win trophies..but of course everything comes to an end..
