You are implying that religious folk are violent while atheists are peace loving, all I can say is uhm Jeffrey Dahmer? Pol Pot? I think we had this discussion before. The business man cum scammer aka pastor, could very well be an atheist a la Jim Jones!
Hello Nabwire. How goes it? Looks like we have met again after a while. Hehehe. Nabwire, you can't say that the atrocities that were commited by guys like Pol Pot and the like were a result of atheism. Those acts were motivated by different reasons. Those guys were mostly doing this to seek power. Atheism had nothing to do with their killings. The difference is that the religious people killing each other are specifically doing it in the name of religion and gods. Have you ever heard of or read anywhere ghat atheists had bombed a church or killed a muslim cleric or invaded a mall? never. We are too smart for such nonsense. The motivation by Pol Pot to do what he did was very different from the motivation by Osama. That's the quintessential apples and oranges scenario. Two completely different scenarios, both initiated by evil people but for different reasons. The reasons here being power and religion respectively.
As for Jeffrey Dahmer, you and i both know that that was a sick man. Once again, his sick actions were not a result of his alleged atheism, that was a sick person doing sick things. He should have been in a mental institution had his condition been diagnosed earlier. Rafael Ramirez, Ted Bundy, John Allen Muhammed (DC Sniper), Gary Ridgeway (Green River Killer) etc are all prolific serial killers and were all religious people, both Christian and Muslim. But the killings that they did were not in the name of religion, these people, just like Jeffrey Dahmer were just sick demented human beings. So, you are actually the one that mixing apples and oranges Nabwire. You are trying to associate mental sickness atrocities with religious killings. Those two are mutually exclusive.
Atheists, me being one, don't really care about whose god is bigger than the other and whose faith is more righteous and all the other nonsense propagated in the name of religion, all we care about is a peaceful world and people being happy. Atheists just want to see people getting along and making this world a better place to live in. You would be surprised at just how kind hearted and good natured atheists are, because we don't have a chip on our shoulders and we don't have anything to prove about a god. All we care about is mankind. We employ logic in everything we do and logic tells us that fighting over imaginary gods is silly when we could actually channel all that energy into a lot of other productive things in life.
There are kids starving to death everyday, can religious people make it a priority to help that dire situation instead of the back and forth killings they engage in everyday...which to be honest really just adds up to being a pissing contest. There is never a winner when religions kill and maim each other. Everybody loses. Maybe it's time we really took an in depth look at the reason for turmoil on this earth. Without a doubt, Religion is at the top of the list. If that's not evidence enough, then i Don't know what is. Say, Even if these gods really existed, wouldn't they at least intervene at some point and bring some sense of sanity into this world? what exactly are they doing that's keeping them so busy that they don't have time to save two year olds at Westgate from being massacred? Are Allah and Yahweh really that busy or are they just really indifferent and could care less about their children killing each other? if i was this so called god guy, there is no way i would had let what went down at Westgate happen. I would had come down from heaven or wherever this god is and made sure that these terrorists hurt nobody. Maybe these gods just don't care or maybe, just maybe, they don't exist. Food for thought. But people are too weak minded and too scared to use logic and start questioning these so called gods existence. Fortunately for me, i am not afraid to question things that don't make sense to me and yes, gods don't make any sense to me. I actually have gods filed under delusional thinking.
Anyway, It's Sunday morning, instead of me going to church to give my money to a pastor driving a range rover while his sheep can't even afford lunch today, i will be in Kibera with my peace corps atheist buddies buying food for the needy. But that's just me and how i see the world, i respect the faxt that everybody is entitled to their own opinion and their own perspectives in life. I just hope that someday, people will wake up and smell the coffee. I know we will meet again Nabwire, i always enjoy reading your posts. :)
