The issue here is - Is it true Al Shabaab tied hostages with explosives to pillars in the basement? I believe it is but looking at their twitter handle it seems they were unhappy their trap did not take out as many KDF as designed, why? Maybe simply because the KDF decided no hostage would make it out alive anyway so take out the attackers with their hostages and end any new calculated loss of life..

There were over a thousand people in the mall as well as its surrounding and about a dozen bastards. These @$&$@#$ could have mowed down hundreds- may be four hundred or so and injured another probably four hundred but they didn’t. OUR SECURITY FORCES RESCUED HUNDREDS IN THE ENSUING HOURS AFTER THE THUGS STRUCK.
Report indicate that when they so the helicopters hovering overhead, they started the slaughter while throwing bodies through the windows and that is when KDF decided to do what they did. Sometimes, it is very easy to psychoanalyze while sipping nectar and typing on an ipad or your computer but the rubber met the road for our brave boys. These goons had booby trapped sections of the mall as well as entrances to inflict mayhem on our rescuers.
They ( our mboys ), were as meticulous going in as they were thorough in executing the task and they only lost six good men. There is always a price but overall, whatever was done was optimal given the circumstances. In-fact, it was superb!
