BREAKFAST MYTH

What if you are told that breakfast is not the most important meal of the day?

What if you are told you can lead to your
normal life without breakfast ?

There is no medical proof that breakfast is a mandatory meal.

One can schedule his or her breakfast later in the day like 11.00 am, noon or later.

Breakfast is rather your first meal after the night rest . It is flexible and may not be confined to a specific morning hours .

Breakfast as the most important meal was an advertisement gimmick by cereal manufacturers and other food producers .

POTTASIUM QUESTION....WHICH FOOD HAS THE HIGHEST

The general notion is that we should consume banana that it is very rich in potassium.
I was of this school of thought as well if you read through my earlier posts .
We all know the health benefits of potassium.

I have now realized that there are several foods rich or better still richer in potassium than banana . I can name a few . Talk of avocado, boiled potatoes , yams, spinach, cabbage , tomato paste etc

The popularity of banana is based on the fact that it is readily available all year round and it is sweet .

For healthy living sweet fruits is not the best as they spike up insulin and they are normally converted directly to glucose by the liver . This can lead to weight gain .

NUTRIENTS DENSE FOODS

This is popularly called balanced diet .

What is important here is the usefulness to the body but not how sweet or palatable .
Ideal nutrient dense foods are always from natural or organic sources and not processed or packed foods .
We are all familiar with classification of food by categories ie carbohydrates(or starch), proteins , fats and oil.

Besides a good perspective to classify nutrient dense food is as follows :-

- Electrolytes
- Minerals
- Vitamins
- Phyto nutrients
- Fiber

SWEET POTATOES , A HEALTHY CARB WITH LOW GLYCEMIC INDEX

Vitamin C
Iron
Vitamin B-6

Sweet potatoes are healthier than regular potatoes. However, regular potatoes are still packed with enough nutrients to be considered a superfood. When consuming potatoes in moderate portions, you will be consuming a ton of vitamins and nutrients that include fiber, iron, zinc, and potassium. This means that even regular potatoes can help protect your heart from heart disease.

Potatoes have gained a bad rep among health enthusiasts due to their association with fast food treats like french fries and the like. It is time to reign potatoes back to the wholesome world!
