You are FIRED!!! Nice move by Trump. No govt should accommodate moles/saboteurs in its ranks. Also civil servants are required to serve the government of the day, the govt that has been unanimously elected by the people, and if one is not ready, they should go home.

You do understand that the attorney general is a member of cabinet and chief legal advisor to the government.

The holder of that office can dissent if the president's actions are potentially illegal.

Can you imagine AG Githo Moigai refusing to support jubilee's move of closing refugee camps and sending the refugees back home?

Githu is in an even stronger position because he does not serve at the pleasure of the president. I think it is a well known fact that our current AG does not always agree with directions from State House.

Reuters wrote:
U.S. President Donald Trump fired top federal government lawyer Sally Yates on Monday after she took the extraordinarily rare step of defying the White House and refused to defend new travel restrictions targeting seven nations.

It was another dramatic twist in the unusually raucous roll-out of Trump's directive that put a 120-day hold on allowing refugees into the country, an indefinite ban on refugees from Syria and a 90-day bar on citizens from Iran, Iraq, Libya, Somalia, Sudan, Syria and Yemen.

Yates said late on Monday that the Justice Department would not defend the order against court challenges, saying that she did not believe it would be "consistent with this institution's solemn obligation to always seek justice and stand for what is right."

Hours later, she was fired. The White House said Yates "has betrayed the Department of Justice by refusing to enforce a legal order designed to protect the citizens of the United States" and portrayed her actions as political.

And so she takes the honours of being the first one to be FIRED by the president.

Are you sure, I thought he is a cabinet secretary like any other and can suffer a fate similar to Ngilu's if necessary

The AG has security of tenure under the current law. That's the reason our silly mp's are rushing to make amendments.

technically... he as explicit security of tenure and the interesting thing is (if no one has changed it) - while the constitution had stated how other state officers could quit - it did not state how the attorney general could quit. Kinda reminded me of the ministers under the old constitution - they could not 'resign'. they could rusha mikono but they were still ministers until the president let them off the hook.

The AG can resign by writing to the president.

Office of the Attorney General Act 2012. Sections 11 and 12 are relevant to this discussion.

Doubt it. Civil servants are consummate pros at surviving blowhards...they will duck their heads down, lie low and watch.
I also estimate Trump has a year, may a year and a half of going full nutcase, bull-in-china-shop and then the midterm congressional elections will come up. He has to maintain majority in the houses and to do that, he has to move away from some of these directives that are making people boil over and build a semblance of consensus and rapprochement. If he doesn't, the angry Democrat voters that stayed away might come out in force and the Republic majority lost -after which a swift impeachment might follow (at the worst) or his policy bills will find no traction or the ones effected reversed.
All guesswork on my part of course. Meanwhile,....enjoy the show

And you're assuming these tantrums by liberals and wanton anarchy hasn't solidified his support base? You're assuming only silent democrats sat out the election? Lol. Don't forget, by the time Trump is done with reforming America, illegal voters (800000 of whom audits show voted and voted for Hillary) will not be able to boost Democrat numbers in the sanctuary cities of California and New York. Nothing the dems have done since election has boosted their chances of winning neutrals over. Trump on the other hand...

And there are no Trump supporters who now regret voting for him? Goes both ways.
If he touches ACA by repealing the bill or defunding, it will touch off a chain of events that might see that rust belt anger he rode so well turn round and maul him. What do they say about revolutions? Revolutions first eat their own children.

....... is not spending time composing great talk and speeches like his predecessor.

If someone finds themselves still hoping that somehow, voters will choose someone other than Trump, they have still not yet understood why they lost the way they did and it shows that Trumps political opponents are visionless and rudderless and would have run the country so. Despite all the guns aimed at him, from individual voters, from Clintons and the Democrats, to the establishment, to the mainstream media, and even Mexico's president and other heads of state he still became president!

And by the way, surely they expect that at some point Trump supporters will get militant too. They cannot be demonstrating day in day out, making noise and disrupting mundane everyday activities and not expect an equal and opposite reaction at some point.

Read slowly

It is important to understand the slow logic and the mental incapacity of Trump voters.

The word deplorable is just too nice to describe them.

Quote:
Syrian family who watched their relatives get deported admit they voted for Donald Trump

Assali said her vote for Donald Trump was done out of a desire to see secure borders, though she didn’t expect one of her candidate’s chief campaign promises to be applied to her relatives, who are all Orthodox Christians with green cards.

Ghassan Assali compared the U.S. government under the president he voted for to the Islamic State, expressing disappointment that the country he calls home now issues religious purity tests to immigrants,

Please remember that this fool supported Trump....Only to see what an ass the fella is.

Reminds me of some Kenyans who forget that soon they shall be under the black lives matter banner under this lunatic.
