Am with you here.Which parent would stand watching for over 5 hours waiting for a rescue team.

Yes rains were heavy and risky but standing aside and watching is not the natural thing for a parent to do.

It gets worse when you hear that all they did was wade through and no other life saving skills were applied.Waiting for Serikal is what will finish us.
Love is beautiful and so are those who share it.With Love, Marriage is an amazing event in ones life time, the foundation of joy, happiness and success.

that was the first thing that occurred to me on reading that post by kisero. a parent would have been the first person to wade through that water and not stand around seeing their kids possibly dying. but maybe given his influential address book he may have thought he was better off being alive 'co-ordinating' the rescue than dying in carrying it out. or maybe he didn't have gumboots. or he had other children to think of.

I don't think Kisero deserves the harsh criticism.

1. Before the rains abated it would be too risky for him to play hero and he called for help.

2. After the rains subsided it was reasonable to expect hesitation and need for support to wade into the water. The human mind reacts to shock slowly and needs encouragement.

3. He/she says that SRT arrived at 5 am and considering that this was the first response from a government official whom apparently hadn't been contacted, then it's reasonable that the marginal effect was great considering 'better late than never'.

Since this story is now important and trending we should expect exaggeration from most reporters mostly driven by hidden motives.

Anyway, his child and other children are now safe and that is what matters.

Brother Tycho, he should leave theatrics to politicians. He ought to have fussed over his child, probably taking a day off to be with him/her, considering the agony and discomfort the child went through the whole night - while he watched.

His being 'forever grateful' to Mr. Mbuvi (honestly I don't understand for what, sending in water waders, maybe) shows ,,,, arghh!

Then he lectures and pontificates - to 'us' perhaps - ati "We must improve our ability to deal with whatever nature throws at us."

Anyway, it is his opinion and Mr. Mbuvi his preference. I exit and wish y'all a pleasant weekend.

Hooray! It's Friday evening!
