Lets assume this election goes to rerun (lack of 50 +1) (by 1% or less than a 1%) Don't you think Uhuru will blame himself for such an opportunity that he took for granted among other reasons.

In my own opinion, Uhuru will win this election but not showing up may either make some of his voters lazy hence affecting the turnout. You never know it may contribute to a rerun. That means Uhuru will have to work extra hard because of taking such an opportunity for granted!!

There was no commitment from Uhuru about appearing. The media advertised and sold a lie. However he should have sent out a statement saying he did not commit to a debate.

Yeah,he should have.

Murchr you are a political buff. You know the Jubilee strategy. They know they can't win with only central and north rift votes so they have camped in coast, western and kisii trying to get some meat off that bone. That is why they have spent months in the coast. Unfortunately, all that went to waste in 90 minutes.

By not showing up, ohhh boy. If the Jubilee voters are moaning and crying in the blogs, what do you think the voter is thinking in Narok. Raila spent a whole 10 minutes talking to the Masai. Alone with no question or disagreement.

I think you guys are joking.

True votes in central may not change much. However, I know of 3 voters who won't show up on d-day already.

Poor politics will send Uhuru home. If I were Nasa all I would say in rallies is. Uhuru ni muoga na ana dhania nyinyi ni wajinga. Then follow Uhuru every county he goes to. Sorry Murchr, even Trump screaming how the media is biased showed up when required.

I highly doubt this would yield much,Kenyans are emotional. To be honest,2 days from today, this debate will not matter, people made noise about the VP debate, and we all forgot that Kalonzo didn't attend. Even those 3 votes, they will come back home thihihi!!

In my view,I think Uhuru should have attended, largely symbolic

@liv is an insider,he should tell us what the logic wassmile

He will still be President, debates change few,for example, they drew votes for jean Melechon in France.

I was also disappointed that he did not show up or state clearly that he was not participating. Many people were expecting him to attend and he should have sent word during the day that he was not interested instead of letting the media set him up the way they did.

In 2013 I was in contact with key insiders of TNA compaign team.... But I don't know what is happening in 2017. In fact early this year I like many other people who have been Jubilee supporters were indifferent about who between Uhuru and Raila would become the president .... And there was a lot of apathy from mt Kenya region if you can remember. But the events of the recent past, the court cases against IEBC, the war mongering from NASA followers, the ultimatums from NASA, etc including ....like 41 against 2 on social media..... have resulted in very hardened positions and we are almost back to 2013 where siege mentality has set in .... This ensured high voter turnout. It is not about who can run the country better anymore or who has better ideas.....but who must not be allowed to win in the coming elections now. Unfortunately today's statemanly tone from RAO might not change that feeling on the ground.....too little too late... In some villages no business will be conducted unless you've prove that you've voted on 8th August.

I didn't know there was indifference, maybe because I am rarely in Kenya,i just know i was / i am disappointed about corruption; other than that, I congratulate UK for the progress.

Am glad I didn't have to answer alma. But trust me on 8/8 no one will remember that debate. Although even the questions asked did a disservice to Babu

I am confident he will win. The mt kenya region communities spread across kenya are about 34% of the total vote. The Kalenjin vote across Kenya is about 15%. These two communities turnout rate has been the highest in previous elections and there is no reason why that might not be repeated. The loss of those who might vote for NASA from these communities will be more than compensated by other communities like Somali, Kamba masaai, Mijikenda, Kisii, etc.

It will be an uphill task for RAO to beat Uhuru.

The president was busy meeting samburu leaders and elders to sort the chaos in laikipia. He then went to open Isiolo international airport. After all he had stated clearly that he won't be attending that stupid debate organised by the greedy and rogue media. Also note that presidents in kenya aren't elected via debates otherwise Dida or Karua could be presidents. And also politics, like love, are matters of the heart and voters have decided and tv debates won't change voters minds.

That was in Isiolo after opening the Isiolo International airport and also campaigning in the region, then decided to see what jamaa wa kitendawili was saying.
