The govt did NOT respond to this attack sensibly. I gather that Mpeketoni is an isolated settlement. To the south and west, it's a jungle until Witu kms away. To the north, presumably the attackers access route, it's very sparsely populated until Hindi. To the east, it's the ocean suggesting that if the attack lasted hours, the govt would have surrounded Mpeketoni....

The police station was the first to be attacked, how were they to respond sensibly, unless govt flying in reinforcements?

@Jagguer, of cause I am talking about reinforcement....5hrs after the distress call nobody had gone to their rescue, our security is a big shame!!!

The attack on Westgate last year started approximately at 12.30 pm but by 1.25 pm the authorities were still trying to work out what was going on. RECCE squad arrived Three and a half hours after the first shots were fired. If that kind of unacceptable delay in response can happen hapa in Nairobi imagine how long they would take to respond to a distress call at night in Mpeketoni!

Don't get me wrong, i'm not trying to defend the police what i'm trying to bring out is that they never really stood a chance....especially with Kimaiyo at the helm. If there's anyone to be blamed here it should be the NIS Director General Michael Gichangi.....here should be sacked!

I don't know Gichangi or Kimaiyo, or the officers on duty when this incidence occurred. In fact, I do not know any security official in Kenya on a personal basis. I only know of a disciplined force, working under a political field. And as such, if the political field be insecure and wobbly then the disciplined forces can't be up to the task of securing the citizens.

I am saying this noting the events in a country like Iraq where government soldiers shed their uniforms and ran away as ISIS advanced; while the Kurds took Kirkuk.

The same way, when our domestic politics have such elements as MRC, mungiki, Sabaot forces, al Shabaab, then you can be sure that we solve nothing by sacking Gichangi.

If you look at the matter of insecurity closely enough, you realize it is you the citizen who should lose rights for being politically inept.

Where are you links and why are you trying so hard to sell the alshabab story, are you their mouthpiece?

Oh before i forget earlier in the thread you said boko haram don't claim responsibility for attacks, Madame try googling "boko haram claims responsibility and you will get About 1,720,000 results in(0.28 seconds)

Something is going on and its not what we think we know. I pray for the families, ni hayo tuu!

@Kratos why are guys trying to sell tribal politics??

An attack is launched next to Somalia, with superior weapons, with attackers speaking Somali, telling people to quote Shahada, and talking about KDF in Somalia!

How does one conclude that it is CORD??

Who is selling anything between me and you. I have simply asked you for the links for your statements. I have also informed you that youre wrong in stating that boko haram dont issue claims of responsibility. Kindly address those issues i have raised first without the drama.
And as we continue please tell us why you think your theories are more valid than others.

I don't know how to post a link to witness accounts! Maybe you can show me?

Boko Haram does not claim EVERY attack...

Your theories seem based more on sycophancy rather than fact Shame on you

My condolences to all affected. Why is Cord quick to blame the central government without mentioning the county government? Haven’t they always stated they want the national government to have nothing to do with counties? What is the Lamu county government saying. Shouldn’t the county governments be aware of all the blind spots in their areas of jurisdiction? This was the main risk with devolution.

My friend, Security was not devolved and lies squarely on the shoulders of the National Government......try another one!!!

the katiba was too progressive, it overtook us so fast we don't know what hit us - its like throwing a nursery school kid into university.

Soma katiba bro... the last few pages have the functions of the national gava and county gava. Otherwise from this point going forward people will think you are a form two dropout no matter what intelligent things you say...
