The team that had the best weekend was Arsenal.
After being outplayed for most of the match (contrary to @Impunity's assertion that Arsenal played well), another RvP moment of class sunk the Kop!Now they know how we felt when after outclassing them at Anfield for significant portions of the 5th round (or was it 4th?)FA tie,Kuyt scored an 87th minute winner. So I felt nothing for Dalglish and his men, but that was a great strike by RvP, and even classier pass from Song. Apparently he's the leader in assists this season, very surprising statistic.
The same scenario was replicated at White Hart lane - first half possession read 75:25 to Spurs but we were one goal ahead, only 2nd shot on goal. Fergie admitted that he'd got the first half tactics wrong, we had the ball for only the first 10 minutes. After Utd scored the 2nd, psychologically the game was half won, though if Spurs had pulled one back we'd have been nervous. Did anyone notice how Nani, after getting the throw in from Jones, had a chance to square off the ball to Rooney, but instead chose to pass it just infront of Friedel, who could have easily grabbed it, had it not been deflected by a defender on to Young's path? Valencia could have done the obvious, notwithstanding the fact that we scored. Of course the 3rd sealed it,and Young should be scoring more of those like he used to at Villa, there's only one corner where that ball was ending, same when Robben gets the ball onto his left foot. Young should really score more goals. Defoe's strike was too little too late, a dent on what was going to be a clean sheet, Giggs the forgivable culprit this time. Mancini just can't seemt to shake us off, and I hope it stays that way till Mon Apr 30th!
Poor AVB, we saw it coming a mile away, but Roman must be taking too much vodka if he thinks Pep will be answer to his woes. Chelsea were building something when Jose came, but the instability afterwards (7 coaches in as many seasons)has led to their current state - even City should stick with Mancini if he fails to win anything, they're building something solid there.
I was surprised how Bolton managed to resist until the 2nd goal in the 68th minute - I think the run in will be about dropping points to unlikely teams, the two big games over the weekend have shown the so called "big teams" can be unlucky on any given day.
Now to see if Chelsea and Arsenal can score 3 and 5 at home respectively without conceding....
