'Human failing': UN warns of rise in animal-to-human diseases

"While many in the world were surprised by COVID-19, those of us who work on animal disease were not. This was a highly predictable pandemic," said Delia Randolph, ILRI veterinary epidemiologist and lead author of the report.

Do we have a way to support vulnerable families without necessarily giving them money. Like shopping basic groceries online. Supermarkets that support online shopping.

random update... with a daily reported an increase of +280K - the reported Covid cases should cross 20 Million by the time the weekend is over. The USA has 5M+, Brazil should hit 3 Million by end of day today and the reported deaths should cross into 100K+ by nightfall today.
India is the 3rd country to have 2 Million+ reported cases.

On the flipside 12.5M of the reported cases have recovered.

I think Naivas does. How's the Covid situation in Japan?

I have been against mass testing from day one. It doesn't achieve anything. The best is to test the sick who have presented themselves to the hospitals. It won't matter whether the numbers of the infected reach one billion which soon it will reach because soon the majority will be infected but we will never know because they will recover without any or mild symptoms.

Where Did the debate on this infection killing black people more than the other races go? From the US to Europe that was the case three months ago. What happened?
Politics is just things to keep the people divided and foolish and put your trust in men and none of them can do nothing for you...

The debate ended with the death of George Floyd. Apparently the blacks were dying from sheer neglect in hospitals. You heard it here first.

Tokyo is seeing an explosive second wave. Economy iko full blast but Tokyo governor still urging pple not to travel to their home town over Obon holiday. Seems the containment fatigue is real.

Fatigue is real worldwide. Japan didn't close their country apart from schools for 3 months. The second wave in big metropolitan areas with low Corona related deaths

I think schools will have to scrap their boarding sections for the time being if they are to reopen.

You can't scrap boarding. Most boarders live very far from school. Very few are within commuting distance.

There is no point scrapping boarding until 2021. The vaccine will still not be available to Kenyans even in 2021.

The country needs to start taking calculated risks.
Open boarding schools. Test the students before school starts. Only those who test negative are allowed in. And they are not allowed to leave school even to visit family. If they leave, they can't come back.

For classroooms, the govt should start seriously exploring having classes outside. Tents, Vibanda, under trees etc....

Go back to the 1950s when most classes in Kenya were held under trees

Scrapping boarding schools simply means enrolling your kids in the nearest school from where they live. Still a bad idea.
Imagine being forced to withdraw your son from The Alliance High school and enrol him in Maguna-andu day secondary school. The idea alone is quite repugnant.
