The whole thing is a financial scam. Trump supporters are making donations to finance this appeal. The money is going into the pockets of trump acolytes like Giuliani who is charging $20,000 a day for his legal services.
In general conservatism today has become all about milking gullible conservatives of their money. Just recently some chap started a gofundme to build the wall and conservatives donated millions. These kind of scams have become rampant.

It came down to turnout
The result: sky-high turnout. More than 155 million ballots have been tallied, and with the counting still going in some states, that tally could go higher than 158 million. That would be a turnout rate of eligible voters of almost 67%, the highest since 1900.
