Support from who exactly ?
He's not daft to want to be labelled "the self appointed President" etc tags that would injure his image.
Now we agree on the reason why he couldn't swear himself in. Can you delete your claim above about lack of support ?
As for the peoples assemblies. For as long as there's no funding they are good as dead on arrival. Has anyone of the 7 or is it 8 met? From what Nasarites say, these assemblies are to be forums that will "change the constitution" to do that you need to pass a motion in 24 counties.....how feasible is that?

Now fellow Wazuan, snap back to reality and get on with life. The Kenyan media should focus on real issues, like the current army-worm invasion in the country. Kenya's food security is threatened. Now that's a real issue

About the people's assembly. Two incidents tell a story of meticulous planning that we do not ordinarily see in NASA.
1. NASA has a minority in Nairobi county. But they almost passed the bill this week. The minority leader drove to Naivasha for a committee meeting. The Jubilee MCAs who were prepared to shoot down the bill relaxed after learning the minority leader was in Naivasha. Unknown to them, the minority leader sneaked and drove all the way to Nairobi. All NASA MCAs were in the assembly. He presented the bill on the floor with NASA having a clear majority. It took the intervention of the speaker Beatrice Elachi to postpone the debate.

2. Machakos county. Kalonzo personally called each all Wiper MCAs in the county to pass the bill.

We do not know what the game-plan is. But NASA can comfortably pass the bill in 21 counties. With proper planning, they can get another 3 counties. As to what they will do with those assemblies, only time will tell. Personally am convinced this is the main strategy. The searing-in was a red herring.

@FRM2011, Meticulous planning that does not lead to winning the trophy, an election, is nothing. All that is happening is locking the door tight after the horse has bolted. What happened in Nbi is similar to what Baba did to withdraw from a Court sanctioned election and then declaring there can be no election with Baba or instigating violence to prevent voting and then claiming voting rights were curtailed. The time for Blackmail and mischief tricks is up. It's time now for a formidable opossition to check on the Jubilee excesses and have an alternative government in waiting. There is a genuine yearning for an alternative but there is none at the moment.

Yeah. ....lack of a credible alternative has been the biggest problem in our political competitions.

True True. I want to hear one UMK ask baba not to beg for talks, but to check the govt. If they talk, who will check the govt? Will we then not have a dictatorial regime. And there can be no talks on electoral justice by political players when we have the judiciary. Such would be extrajudicial

[color=blue]Three NASA principals did not support the much-hyped swearing-in of Raila Odinga as the People’s President, leading to collapse of the plan. Raila, the fourth principal, gave in. The pressure to capitulate was enormous.

There were fears of convulsive violence leading to deaths of innocent supporters, fears that Raila himself would be arrested and jailed for treason for life, fears his legacy would be irredeemably tarnished and his cause of electoral justice and democracy would founder.

NASA announced on Sunday that it had postponed the inauguration from today to a later date. The decision to call off the ceremony was reached on Sunday after intense discussions among Raila, his family, NASA leaders and diplomats led by US Ambassador Robert Godec. It is understood Raila’s wife Ida told those pushing for Raila’s swearing-in to swear in someone else — not her husband.

She has avoided active politics since she lost her son Fidel in January 2015 and her daughter Rosemary fell sick this year. Ida and other family members were worried Raila could have been jailed for life if he had been sworn-in at the age 72.

Those words in red, especially when uttered by a woman more so in local language are very powerful. I wish I could write them in my language.
