Kenya Power has moved to court seeking to freeze Mumias Sugar Company’s assets until the struggling miller settles a Sh1.1 billion electricity bill – a demand that could worsen the miller’s dwindling fortunes.

The bill arose from Kenya Power supplementing Mumias’ power production plant between 2009 and 2014.

While the miller has only paid Sh70 million, the electricity distributor wants the court to compel Mumias to pay the total bill, a move that may disrupt the government’s Sh1 billion rescue bid of the sugar manufacturer.

Business Daily

Kenya power is heavily government owned so it will be prevailed upon to hold its horses and give Mumias time to raise cash.

I agree with those who say MSC is dead.

There is always one readon or other why the co does not perform from thieving employees, lack of sugarcane etc etc. I think next time it will be lack of air.

Some one needs to check; was the land where the co build the plant a grave yard which means the devil hangs around there all the time and when the factory is in operation it disturbs the dead,

MSC's woes are temporary.A passing cloud.

Hawa jamaa shida doesn't end. The other day on the paper tthe story was some sugar is imported from Somalia and ppackaged wwith some local sugar company packages . This is a stock to buy when the graph is steadily rising but for now its problems after problems. Next will be the machines have refused to work completely .wait and see

It's a pity that msc is now headed by a complete bunch of idiots and by large, what they are telling the whole world is that the company has only made 74K tonnes of sugar with only two months to go before year end. For a company which progressively rose to a record 272K tonnes of sugar in 2007,then something is terribly wrong and that is what they should be addressing.Actually, the last time msc made so little sugar was in 1977 but then they had only one mill tandem.SAD!
Nothing great was ever achieved without enthusiasm.

MSC is a joke company. The management's unwavering ineptitude coupled with it's pool of rogue employees is unbelievable. Every week there is negative news on this company, which is projected to return to profitability in 2019 - well make that 2022 or later. An article in today's The Star reported alshabaab sugar was repackaged in MSC bags for distribution in the country. This will definitely puncture the company's brand image further and I wouldn't be surprised if some of the employees are linked to this.

Today, when I read about the sucrose leakage, barely five months after annual maintenance, the first thing that crossed my mind is that some employee had found a new way to swindle the company. Why Kidero and his boys have not been prosecuted for corruption is beyond me. I wouldn't touch this stock even with a long pole. I pity those who were averaging down after the music stopped. So sad.
