But those are just individuals who will be outlived by their countries which in any case could remodel themselves according to future movements which they will be involved in shaping. It's like being in the relay team and running in the opposite direction, then hoping your team can win the race. Somebody already won that race, super power races don't play by the rules, sometimes. If you stay ready, no need to get ready.

So now EU states intent to slap sanctions if there is no de-escalation and Russia in turn state intent to confiscate assets belonging to EU or U.S. companies if sanctions are imposed. This is turning into an expensive muscles game.

USA is never going to attack Russia not unless they want to start another war. You go to war when there are tangible benefits. Paramount are security and economic.
Of what would it benefit them to attack Russia?
What does Ukraine have?
All the resources are in Russia.
There are other ways to fight your enemy other than war.
How do you neutralize your enemy?
By brewing rebellion within Iran; Syria; Venezuela
Use others to fight the battles for you. Somalia.
Diplomatic offensive I.e ganging up aganist them in international circles.
Trade sanctions.
Turning their freinds aganist them. Isolation. North korea
Attacking their freinds to force them to talk to you.
