I think live coverage is better because it gives the real picture to quell some of the false messages/rumours.... not better at all unless they give the information that the police need to feed the gunmen, otherwise the gunmen may also be getting intel from the live coverage like where people are hiding, when the police are moving in if at all etc I think a 3-5 minutes time delay in live coverage would suffice...
