TRUST ME.
Laughing out loudly

I dont gerrit

Which Njoro would rather reject 3.5 mirrion bounty and seek a peniless justice?
Show me one and I buy you the whole of JKIA.

I am not a njoro neither anywhere from near the slopes but I would absolutely have negotiated my way out of it in kenya shilingi terms. To make me feel better,I would look at it as awarding damages to me-self.It's no different from what the court will do ultimately Laughing out loudly Laughing out loudly

Yeah, now think about it on a bigger scale. If you are managing a 40 bn road project, squeezing 1pc out of it should not be a big problem. After all, you will be assisting in wealth distribution(and why should your kids go hungry?). The architects of Goldenberg, Angloleasing, land grabbing etc were all being real. Who wouldnt want more wealth?

This comparison doesn't make sense AT ALL!

The Kerubo - Barasa was somewhat private. No public funds or property was involved! If the 3.5m was coming from the public coffers, no one would be supporting the arrangement. Out of court settlements are a common thing everywhere. Even judges give parties time to try and settle out of court.

You pinch me and give me 3.5m of your OWN money to atone for your sins. How is that corruption?
Never count on making a good sale. Have the purchase price be so attractive that even a mediocre sale gives good returns.

Lolest is right. Aren't we mourning louder than the bereaved?

At what point was the money offered? Before mambo ipelekwe mbele or after?

If it was before, there would be nothing much.

But if it was after then it became a simple case of a judicial officer attempting to bribe a complainant to influence the outcome of a case.

On top of corruption, that adds to the deportment of this particular judicial officer - delaying matters. Not good for cases before the court and the backlog awaiting to be finished.

I am appalled by comments of most people in this blog.

This is not only a criminal case against the public but it was committed by a justice.

If Kerubo accepted the shs 3.5m (supposing this was actually offered), this would have been for her personal gain BUT IT WOULD MEAN a defeat of the course for public good and rights of the weak.

What is the difference with cases where children are raped.... and the parents are bribed with money to drop the cases?

or where a terrorist bribes police so that he can be allowed to pass a road block carrying a bomb that may kill innocent people?

What is destroying our country is this attitude.... Most people are trying to gain personally at the expense of the public good.

In future if this will continue... anyone can rape, kill, mistreat, humiliate as long as he has money to pay for it....

@ MaichB, if I remember the sequence of events properly then this is how it went.

Drama at Village market>>Kerubo reports the incident-meets with Barasa at the station(who tells her they will meet in court offering no apology whatsoever)>>Media gets hold of story>>Barasa allegedly sends emissaries offering the 3.5m>>CJ endorses tribunal>>Tribunal set up to investigate her conduct>>Barasa files injunction motion>>Injunction nullified>>Tribunal carries out its work with verdict that she is not fit to hold her position as DCJ.

At no point was there talk damages for injury or otherwise to be paid. If you take note, the emissaries were sent out after the media had exposed the story. This is what we call bribery.

Bribery is an act of implying money or gift giving that alters the behavior of the recipient.Whereby in this case it would be perceived that the cash was meant for her to drop her allegations because of the final effect they would have.

There is a BIG difference! Why do people analogize with totally different scenarios?!

Kerubo stands shoulders high above people commenting here. What she did (whether she did it knowingly or not) is commendable.

I am shocked that most have said they would rather pick the money but at what expense: impunity in the highest office of Justice.

NOTE: We are not talking about a court clerk here guys. It is the DEPUTY PRESIDENT OF THE SUPREME COURT, THE DEPUTY CHIEF JUSTICE.

Why then do we condemn a police officer who takes a fifty bob from a tout? He is after all being smart unlike Kerubo.

I shudder to imagine what @Nancy will be behaving now if she had escaped this case. I hope all those in power (and us too) will learn from this outcome.

However, I don't despair. Change has come. Thanks the heavens it didn't come through the @Wazuans!

Liv has spoken kabisa.

Some wazuans are just for pang'a ng'a bila mpango wala msimamo.

Yesterday they wept over the state of the country and today they are willing to reconsider for some money.
