Welcome back @CDE.
How is ROAR performing as per the indicative cartoonist charts?
I can see from my vantage point an increased competition between ROAR and MEMBER on who will hit below 40 first before of week.

@ sniper I practically disagree with you on ur loosing Money mantra. If the word loose means separating, then a wise investor should loose Money for a worthy investment venture. The problem lies within the unsaid word inside the suckhole statement. Otherwise rewriting the same, I may say, never loose your worthy Money for an (unworthy) investment idea. The venture turns back chums or inakonda with your cents. So when u find Peso yako ikitolewa ssackerz that is tym u know ur inside slaughter house, with the bear and the bull and the cards drawn.

My English teacher taught me to use only one vocabulary in a sentence and one proverb per paragraph.
Everybody STEALS, a THIEF is one who's CAUGHT stealing something of LITTLE VALUE. !!!

James Mwangi has stopped lending except to GoK otherwise I would be buying like crazy. d'oh! d'oh! d'oh!

If I had the cash to buy the whole company at this price I would. Unfortunately, the Ndegwas have way more cash than I do! Sad

How CEOs can avoid killing a good business by Warren Buffett

"He must never forget Charlie's plea: 'Tell me where I'm going to die, so I'll never go there.'"

http://www.agweb.com/art...ccess-NAA-sara-schafer/

"Character is crucial: A Berkshire CEO must be “all in” for the company, not for himself. (I’m using male pronouns to avoid awkward wording, but gender should never decide who becomes CEO.) He can’t help but earn money far in excess of any possible need for it.

But it’s important that neither ego nor avarice motivate him to reach for pay matching his most lavishly-compensated peers, even if his achievements far exceed theirs. A CEO’s behavior has a huge impact on managers down the line: If it’s clear to them that shareholders’ interests are paramount to him, they will, with few exceptions, also embrace that way of thinking."

@Spikes I've noted your enthusiasm and looks like you have fire in your stomach to play. Sustain it. Overtime build an approach.

I'll share mine. I develop investment cases. Each play has its own. For KQ, it is balance sheet repair 1st. Tailwinds on the operational front are picking up. i.e new & lean fleet, hub, advisories off, MICE & the city hotels capacity to complement e.t.c. Sitting out for the 18 months is foolhardy as it will be when others are harvesting.

I've also learned that only thing I can control is what I think of a company. KQ has a lot of dynamics to work with. @spikes you could be lucky to pole vault or develop by flying a Fokker 1st or as we call them here; local & or X-border buses. All the best.

@vvs thanks for posting the Bankelele blogpost. Fair and true capture of the AGM. Understandable it was a shouting match. Ngunze handled the tirades with commendable composure. I had to wait till it was over to field my questions to the FD!

Was at the exchange bar and amazingly my clique was bullish on KQ, saying that a rally may just be on the wings occassioned by the assumption that a significant improvement on the previous H1 KES 12.49 loss before tax shall pump up investor confidence in the turnaround. I await..

@Obiero -
Qantas said its cost-cutting program [Has KQ gone through a serious cost-cutting program? I was told corruption is king at KQ. Unconfirmed but apparently it starts from the CFO] had helped save Aus$894 million over the year and allowed it to reduce its debt [Has debt reduced at KQ or increased? New 787s, Afreximbank loans, GoK loans, pensions, etc]. Lower fuel prices [hedges will wipe out 30-50% of the benefits] also helped the bottom line with every segment making healthy profits.
No dividend was declared but the airline announced a one-off 23 cents per share capital return to shareholders, amounting to Aus$505 million.
The return to profit appeared to vindicate Joyce's strategy to cut Aus$2.0 billion in costs, cut routes, freeze growth at Asian offshoot Jetstar, and get rid of 5,000 jobs [Can KQ cut jobs? Has it cut jobs? It has cut routes but it was forced to cut many that were profitable] to help counter a price war with domestic rival Virgin Australia.
Greedy when others are fearful. Very fearful when others are greedy - to paraphrase Warren Buffett
