Banks will be rolling in money. The prevailing funds pricing spreads are insane, both on interest income as well as foreign exchange

The loan defaults will also rise. In a bad economy no one wins. Not even the banks. The banks just do not suffer losses the same extent as other businesses. The banks will also be very reticent about 'crowing their good returns' (when everyone else is suffering) lest the taxman and the wrath commeth their way. Expect another attempt by politicians to 'cap' interest rates.

How low will you cap the rates when the tbill is at 12.65? Did Thugge raise the CBR last month? Why did he do it? Kenyan banks usually have high due diligence, with forecasted default not exceeding 5% of total lending. Not everyone gets a loan!

"Kenyan banks usually have high due diligence, with forecasted default not exceeding 5% of total lending." then why are the industry's NPLs at 10%+?

The average includes collapsed lenders and bulk NPL is at Tier 2 and 3
