It's all about 5G, stupid. America realized very late that China via huawei have an edge on the technology. Its known that a nation which pioneers such pacesetting technology stands to reap massive benefits and this could have accelerated the rise of China economically relegating America to second place. But I think america has just now awakened a sleeping giant. #Pearl Harbour moment#

We make such comments when we sit in a cyber café in a village. 5G? come on, people are talking about AI, Genomics etc. and you are arguing that America and China are fighting about 5G?

@Rollout 5G is on another level even IA without 5G is nothing.......do research too :) Think on the lines of time dilation when speed increases......singularity......on the way

@rollout, if you do not understand how technologies boost each other, stay aside. The future technologies need platform that enables them. For AI, self-driven cars etc etc you a network that supports that.

ARM suspends its workings with Huawei. This is now going to hurt their Kirin processers. This seems like a cordinated take down of Huawei. Last year Intelligence agencies 5 Eyes (US,UK,NZ, Australia & Canada) sanctioned this process. Huawei for sure will bleed.
If you stay ready, no need to get ready.

Its time for political grandmaster Xi to flex his muscles too. Why should he let his most thriving company die. Let him also make others bleed. Read an article that chinese airlines are asking for some crazy payments from Boeing for the grounded Max

If he does that the impact will be in the short term. However, in 5G Huawei is far much ahead of the next companies (Nokia and Ericsson). This process is meant to either, slow them down or force them to share their knowledge with their Western competitors, if you consider 5G will be crucial for IoT and Huawei has more patents on 5G than Ericsson and Nokia combined.

Huawei spends $11b annually in R&D. Half their staff work in R&D. So I'm sure they already have something up their sleeves. Might take time to roll out an alternative OS to Android. Also remembering that Android also dethroned the Nokia OS, back then not so long ago Nokia was king. I think phone makers will have to have to develop and operate on their own systems like Apple and have Android and any other OS as Apps that one can switch to in their convenience. Otherwise, today it will be Huawei and tomorrow Samsung.

BBI will solve it

It will be a tall order. Samsung which is bigger than Huawei tried with Tizen and failed, Amazon again bigger than Huawei has one but nobody cares much about it. The challenge is usually to get developers to make the Apps for the said OS. Ask anyone if they will buy a phone without GSuite services plus, some other apps like navigation apps used in taxi hailing apps rely on Google services. Developing the OS to be even half of what Google services are is going to be a challenge.
