Impunity is a graduated welder while Wadi is a student

What that boy said is filthy and uncalled for but to jail him is going a little too far..... no actually to even arrest him is to set foot on a path that leads to a very slippery slope. Freedom of speech is a precious thing, it is what allows us all to speak our minds to say deep things like @tycho to tell it like it is like @alma, to defend and explain our faith like @alphadoti, to teach, to rebuke to encourage to let our agreements and disagreements be heard.

In this same space you are going to have truants and misfits and they too will speak; in ways we do not fancy and say things we do not like. I say the right response is for those who feel offended to use their freedom of speech to disagree with them but for heavens sake let not the state come in to limit this freedom.

Set Wadi Free.

If I was an Uhuru adviser I would advise him to offer the boy presidential pardon mara moja. He kills 2 birds with one stone, he kills this debate and at the same time scores a few political points.

To the contrary, am not sure if you read where he called for the killing of the president, the forceful removal of an ethnic community and yeah the petty insults. I support the jail term and I also support the charges against others like him "keyboard warriors" to whom freedom of speech is not exercised with responsibility. Alai, Mugo and Kuria should all face the same fate regardless of their political standing.
Freedom of expression should always be tampered with responsibility towards others. Kenyans must mature quickly to understand that whatever happened in 2007 did not die with the formation of a coalition government, it was just but a hasty retreat, a band aid. If you remember correctly, it is what lead to the creation of the national cohesion laws. Why would we be so quick to forget the cyber battles that incensed the web which in turn polarized the entire country?
Freedom of speech to an immature individual is akin to giving a loaded gun to a toddler.
About setting him free that would be Moi-esque for Uhuru to pardon him for political mileage. Let us set up laws that govern to how we relate with each other and follow them, not put them aside when they're inconvenient or for political gain.

Kusadikika umenena.

That is why some of us will now take sabaticals from expressing ourselves in certain places. Actually many of us.

Kratos you need to understand that since the beginning of man, all over the world, there has never been anyone who was sucking up to the big man who has ever been jailed for uttering despicable things. Mugo and Kuria and the boatload of Facebook so called bloggers utter some very disturbing things. But they will never be jailed.

Laws on Freedom of expression, have been entirely used to jail and cower anyone who's not with the political class.

That's why we said that these are guaranteed in our new constitution.

Yaani, how many times did Kibaki call his own citizens "mafi ya kuku"? Did anyone jail him? When Duale tells Ruto that "pesa sio ya mamayake", does it mean that he has the right to abuse a public official?

This case will be used by historians to judge Uhuru

I really do miss Kibaki...As in seriously when did you see him bother himself with silly bloggers.

I beg to differ. a jail would be good for him. i think the alternative would be detrimental to him/his family and community because no amount of damages for both the president, his wife, his mother, waiguru etc can be raised easily. the guy would have to have concrete evidence of the utterances that he has diarrhea"d" in his posts.

And where is my constitutional right to live anywhere in Kenya and my properties to be protected, when he calls for me to be moved to central where I probably never grew up nor have relations?

Where are my rights when he discriminates against me based on my community?

What happened to "your rights stop where my rights begin"?

Does the freedom of expression give us a right to insult, spread rumours, disrespect others?

Behind bars it is, with hard labour and strokes and a fine for wasting the public resources discussing the idiot!

The problem of depending on ODM. Now see the ‪#‎AllanWadi‬ case. Just not interested in seeing justice for the young man. ‪#‎Frustrated‬

Briefcase and media hungry lawyers all over but when it comes to arguing a REAL case in a REAL court, they all press ESCAPE. Supporting ODM is very painful MOST of the times.

I can openly attest to that.

You contributed Ksh 12,300 for the Wadi case and the legal process has already consumed most of it. Why don't we do this without depending on these politicians? We do this because we want justice not for Raila or CORD.

Now the High court needs Ksh 5425 for assessment and we don't have the money. Please send your contribution to 0708-677607 if you are ready to support Allan Wadi's case. ODM has promises which they never fulfil.

Thanks.
