Safaricom reduces M-Pesa transaction fee for low, medium value transfers - http://tinyurl.com/pb85a3c

I can see mpesa bank has responded to Equity's mobile cash expected launch. Also quite telling that the floor is where the money velocity is highest at the KES 10 - 1500 range which is $0.11 (US 11cts) to $17. Will the likes of Western Union and Money Gram ever deal with such minute transfer values and still make a profit?

Waiting to see how this will affect money velocity when both platforms will be operational. And I hope this time KE gok won't come up with more mobi cash taxes - madness such a move...

So all along MPESA infrastructure has been in Germany?

Equity Bank data center is Tier IV, guaranteed 24/7 power. There's no excuse for hosting in Germany, they should go to South Africa at worst. BTW, what are the new rates?

I am sure Safaricom would use Equity's Data Center. And Data Centers are very pricey if one needs the additional backup that has its own backup.

Which Equity Data Center are you talking about? The one they are yet to build in Konza?

And how do you get the receipt to display on your windscreen? If it can't get the yellow coats off the parking then the only solution here is kurudisha change.

BBI will solve it

The first and most achievable purpose of technology is to eliminate paper from the system so if this system is to work effectively then you should not have receipts. The guys in yellow should scan your number plate to verify if you've paid and just ensure you've parked properly.

My contribution yesterday on Safaricom in another thread

Safaricom is now a super brand, the most
highly capitalized stock with much leg room
for growth, the toast of foreigners. While
locals are selling foreigners including my tiny
self are taking positions for long term benefits.
You will see Mpesa at 10 this year, 15 in
2014 and even more growth a few years after.
It is a counter you can buy and go to sleep
at least in the next 3 years whether in terms of
income for long termers or capital gain for
speculators.
My advise to speculators is do not
jump ship fast, realise the full potentials
before taking profits, a bountiful one.
It will be interesting within 2 years to go
from say 5 bob in early 2013 to 15 bob in
late 2014 than to jump now from 5 to 9.7
You guys are always in a hurry to take
profits , the typical wananchi way to jump
to another counter.

Spot on mzee Young. This giant is still growing

where did Young go to and how i wish i had listened to him about safaricom
