Hats off. I don't know if I could go through that.

Has he talked about the 1982 event and those who were involved. Has he tried to reach out to the families of those who died?

boss, that's like asking Joseph Kony to reach out to the parents of the kids he kidnaps.

Maybe the book should have been entitled Pulling up the Mask. smile

More seriously though, what exactly is the matter? A prominent figure has written a book about himself, so what?

He might gloss over some details and less than subtly try to sanitize his image here and there... but anyone who reads autobiographies knows that is to be expected.

One thing you will not take away from Raila and many other heroes of the second liberation is that they stood up to an oppressive regime. He had the choice of parroting baba this and baba that like one Joseph Kamotho but he didn't. He chose to fight. He made his mistakes alright. He had his moments of poor judgement but hey, he's only human. Cut him some slack.

Is he the kind of human being I want to read about? Yes. Does this book deliver? Too early to tell, I'd give the excerpts a score of a 6 for balancing across major aspects of the man's life. @Impunity, lete binoculars... smile

Now, 2012, I had a bit of respect for you. Its gone..

Where I come from, our folks say "Utathiaga oigagaa no Nyina urugaga wega" (I'm sure I got it right) which loosely translates... "one who has not travelled well thinks that the mother is best cook".

It looks to me that you fear reading history, thus you have no idea as to who fought for freedom, and who deserves Credit. Period.
Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God..
