Anti-rape condom - aka "Munch-ina"/"Prick Piranha"/"Prick Panther"

....wassup guys - long time.
Was reading about this device and methinks, rather I envisage a few problems:
1 - The news itself - the publicity - weakens the purpose. Rapists now know about it, ergo will look out for it (and I think its not rocket science to remove it or disable it - i.e. carry a cucumber along as "cannon fodder" to take the hit). I think this should have been done covertly in order to be truly effective.
2 - It could result in greater violence and even anal rape (I should thank a friend for pointing this out)
4 - I think there was too much emotion behind its conception such that its not a very objective solution.
So, taking this argument ahead - is this device progress in the right direction or a step backward. I think its a seemingly BIG step - but on a path which offers no more steps. A legal route may have small steps but offers a path that people can follow to find a solution.
Wazua - do we have yet a system to do opinion polls?
Keep warm (brrrr!) and promote the coffee sector...

"...A 2009 report by the country’s Medical Research Council found that 28 per cent of men surveyed had raped a woman or girl, with one in 20 saying they had raped in the past year"....This has made me shiver yaani for every 10 men 3 are rapist in South Africa mind you SA is the role model of other African countries....God help and protect our mothers,sisters,wives,daughters...ama could it be SA does not value women and sees them as objects starting with their prezzo....

@PastorM - RSA has an unusually high rape rate - I'm no historian or sociologist, but I think if we look at the backdrop - this is a society where the majority had been in a state of civilian unrest under apartheid and the war silently was waged - when we think of wars, wherever it has happened in the world, pillage and rape go hand in hand as rewards for the combatants - and while RSA may not be in the same state, there might be those among the population who are still under privileged and feel that sense of "entitlement" as they struggle in a silent war (joblessness, inequity, etc)....but again, I'm no sociologist/historian/psychologist.
Having said that - what is your position - is this progressive or regressive?

@Djinn personnally I think this progressive, infact I would suggest the teeth to be longer and sharper so that they can cut off and the attacker is put in so much pain to give the girl or woman an opportunity to escape.

@PastorM - I now think that is just a screen name (PastorM) - for that jaw for a tooth payback system is not so Christian I should point out, while making this arguement, that I do know someone close, who was raped when she was barely 11 years old - I have a daughter and would definitely sever both heads off a rapist if i caught one... But, here we have a device that is widely available and perhaps likely even to be abused - perhaps rather than have the "biting" effect - why not have a small dose of tranquilizer...such that the rapist suffers instant flaccidity (nothing like killing his ego and the moment)....and have such doses remain in the system so for a repeat offender who encounters this tranquilizer - that the second dose has a permanent effect? That would be justice out there - no need for castration/imprisonment etc - it would be passive disarmament...

leona wrote:How many times can it 'bite'. Why worry?Seasoned rapist will just insert their middle finger in the "meow" and discard the damn thing like a spent gasket, then proceed to eat. The inventor is thrown back 40 years where she started the journey. Portfolio: Sold You know you've made it when you get a parking space for your yatcht.

@impunity....in fact that will be the biggest undoing of the gadget..revenge by smitten women, either by their hubbys, girlfriends and/or mpango wa kando. So men watch out, next time you annoy a lady and she become too willing think twice, otherwise hutaumwa When I have money, I get rid of it quickly, lest it find a way into my heart.

If its bad, its experience."

gents - I like the mirth but I think our women folk will soon take offence... So do let's temper the levity with some gravity about this issue and perhaps forward arguments for and against the device - or alternatives - it is a real problem...even for some men/boys (e.g. sodomy in prisons, schools, etc). So, back to the question - will this gadget do more good than harm?

Djinn wrote:gents - I like the mirth but I think our women folk will soon take offence... @Djinn Thanks Mr.Speaker Sir,was just about to complain! Rape is not traumatizing,so the men above should discuss it bearing in mind that there are some women in this forum!! Nkt To answer your question Djinn.. I think its better than nothing. e.g For those women who work odd hours yet live in some insecure location where chances of getting raped are very high,It would be great to arm themselves with the condom. But is it recyclable? And can it be made more affordable or even given free in women clinics? Just seen somewhere ati it can only be removed surgically?Goodness!! @leona - I think the surgical removal refers to the recipient of the gift, not the giver...unless of course the wearer wants to be celibate? I think it refers to the attacker...

The problem i have with Munchin is. when do women decide to wear it.When do one decide- i'll gonna get raped so let me wear the Munchin! Am imagining the rapist who has been munched would definitely become violent and even kill the victim. Is this deterent?

I think it refers to the attacker... @Djinn Yep,meant the attacker. That means he might be caught up with even if he takes off from the crime scene... But then again, thugs disappear with no trace even with gunshot wounds Nevermind what haters say, ignore them til they fade away - Just live your life
