The chaos at the kisumu-Nandi border need to be condemned. People shouldn't be living in fear of being killed, their livestock stolen and houses burnt all the time.

And it's just not that area. The other day there was fighting against the maasai in mau, before then clashes at nandi - kakamega border. Just before then kisumu-kericho clashes at sondu. In the past there have been chaos on kisii-kericho border, not to mention the attacks on okuyus in RV since 1992.

Seriously how will you get support if you are always attacking all your neighbors?

I happen to know that place well(Thechemelil,Chemase,Majimbo,
Kibigori, Chepsweta,Miwani axis) Tribal clashes in that region are not triggered by politics at all but rather by cattle rustling. The Nandis from up the hills will often come down the plains to restock when they feel like doing so.Then there is a contention of who are the real owners of majimbo nowonder the name.

The only thing necessary for the triumph of evil is for good men to do nothing.

The current and past clashes are always as a result of that retaliation.Take for instance the current case.Luos armed and went up the hills to recover the stolen cattle and on failure to trace them rounded up a few Nandi owned herds they found on their way back and then the battle started.

this stories are not new.... I remember even the legend of luanda magere gave us a glimpse of the conflict between these two communities. a couple of weeks back I was near ground zero and couldn't help but feel those hills made the Luos in the lake basin sitting ducks to attacks from the Nandi's on the hills.

Haha Impunity wacha kuchocha your village folks from the comfort of your desk in Nairobi enda ocha and help protect your community. But true in one aspect, the Nandis will only attack at night,Infact Luos have nicknamed those ants which only invade homes at night "Lang'o" same as the Nandis who only attack at night.
