After a date on Thursday,Girl and Man were accosted by thugs…… Guy managed to get away but Girl did not….. She gets assaulted but thank God no rape occurred…… Upon confrontation,Man says that it was unfair for Girl to expect him to risk his life and later apologized and says that will never happen again……..

Question is,how the heck does Girl make Man understand that just because rape didn’t happen doesn’t make it any less serious? He says that Girl is just being emotional…and was there anything wrong with Girl expecting Man to protect her?

Qsn 2 is…Since that incident,Man has been extra super nice and treats Girl way better than he used to….This is very very confusing…is this guilt or he is truly sorry?

This man failed in his core duty to offer security to his girl. And the fact that he deserted his girl at the hour of need is serious enough, whether or not rape occured. No question about that.

Being too nice is an attemt to redeem a guity conscience following the bluff. The true xter has been revealed.

Xtina,I hope this didn't happen to you!!!!

The exact circumstances at the time of ambush by the thugs and what the guy did afterwards would be useful in determining whether in adversity, the guy acted right - the guy running away may even have saved the girl from being raped. These thugs do not rape because they want to have sex-rather to humiliate.

Otherwise, where bullets and guns are abound, there are no heroes.

As you've put it the 'guy managed to escape' meaning it wasn't an easy task. I don't understand why the guy should apologize to the lady for what happened..he is only human and not a super hero. In most cases men are always killed in such attacks regardless of their efforts.....the fact that this lady was not raped clearly indicates that she was not the prime target.

I am not sure but don't think I would run and leave a date at the mercy of thugs, but at the same time I can't blame someone for taking off,coz I suspect even if I didn't run,all I would help with is in sharing the assault.

I've noticed the youth in particular coming in to a workplace with a completely outsized notion of their own value and importance... just a thinly-veiled arrogance. May be the credit crunch induced recession is whats needed to remind us all about the value of hard work.... By Anonymous

@ Xtina,

I would have done the same. No need to play Hero, risk death or permanent disability just to prove that you are 'man'.

My opinion..

Now,this gal needs to read the signs of the times, she is simply not important enough to the dude. If I was the one, that wld be the last time he would hear from me.

I know i case where a guy made a break for it in such a situation....and the chick froze (instead of taking the cue) stood there....there was absolutely no sense in the man going back...and the thugs fled....what exactly happened in this case of yours?

@Jacy

Gal,youll soon need to learn how to fight. See the sentiments here.

I think the type of man who would stay and fight for you is the type of man who would marry two wives without blinking an eyelid, but again do you want to share. Catch 22!!

That the man took off is unacceptable. No man leaves his girl behind whatever the circumstance. If you truly loved her,he would fight to death to defend her. But that the girl is complaining makes no sense. The man has just proved incompetent in the most basic role. He's not the husband. Why complain? Tafuta mwingine.

Huh...!!...That's not a man...!!....Two most important things a woman will be looking for in a man is love and security............am not saying dude ought to have fought back, but he would have stood by and bargained for their freedom........better still,he would have sought help immediately....!!!......Since he did neither,we can simply say your gal is in love with a chicken...........what happened to 'i would die for you'?

Ladies, before you trash this guy,I would like Xtina to describe to us all about the situation including the cordinates where it took place.

Instances of criminal attacks call for quick thought and not necessarily heroic reaction (picture the case of the late PS,a trained and perhaps even armed victim).

Sometimes, you need to run so that you can marshall help or re-ambush the thugs especially if you are armed.

From the story though the guy seemed to have ran mpaka nyumbani and only recalled the scene when he met the girl again-Xtina fafanua.

I guess the guy wasnt man enough...He would have stuck with the gal,and plead for mercy together....There would have been no point in risking death of both (man & woman) by attempting to fight the thugs, unless there was extremely high certainty of winning...A knife stub or a gun short aint a nice way to die...but why take off and leave you baibe???? washana naayeee! kubaffff!!

Reminds me of a time 2 drunken cops accosted me and my then friend. It was pitch dark and could not see their faces. They tried to threaten us but my friend threatened them back. He took a risk to save both of us. Eventually they relented. Can't imagine what would have happened if he deserted me

the guy did the right thing, period.

imagine a group of say 10 thugs, all armed with guns, knives, matchetes their tools of trades. there is little you can do in such a midst.

secondly,a thug hates betrayal. he is ever tense because for every move he makes, the line between life and death is almost nil. by exiting from the scene, the guy could have frantically sought cops. therefore, the least the thugs could have done is to free from the scene immediately, without creating any disturbances (gun shots, screams et al).

Before you rush to condemn this guy, learn the circumstances.Personally I am convicted that each man is the best judge of his own situation. May be that is what seemed best at the time,if faced by a different situation,he may respond differently. Again nothing illustrates better the quality of his judgement than the outcome. It could have been worse..
