The political and economic structures that have prevailed have favored the race and tribe as the base for interaction and growth.

Take for example, the premise that the nation state has to increase her GNP with the view of stabilizing herself by providing optimal employment and increasing the size of the middle class. The effect of this has been imperialism and its other effects like Colonialism.

Take the Kenyan example, from the effects of settling in the White highlands it was inevitable that not only would the Kikuyu be at the frontline of the struggle for independence, but it also followed that the tribe should be at the base of government after independence.

Nationalism has unfortunately always fostered tribalism.

Right now we are celebrating the sterling perfomance by our rugby boys. Everyone is seeing that Kenya won. Not that a few Luos,or a few Luhyas, or any other tribe in the team. We r seieing Kenya! Wish it was this way in all aspects!

Add 1992 and 1997 to that. In all the elections they have been runners up and when absent we saw what happened in 2007.

But they always present strong candidates and have a lot to protect, learnt lessons the hard way in the 80's and 90's.

Now Kikuyus not voting other tribes they have become tribalists?so its only Kikuyus who are tribalists in Kenya? @Urstil you start a thread asking people not to view politics from a tribalistic perspective and then you go ahead to propagate the same.very hypocritical indeed.
