The dangerous dip by premier Odinga about National Security Intelligence Service wishing to bring his political dream down requires a critical analysis.
......Unfortunately, the role of the NSIS is well defined and objective to be impartial since its loyalty is with the motherland, Kenya, hence the NSIS, like all other intelligence organizations, is to gather and exploit secret information. It identifies conditions that threaten Kenya’s political, economic, and social stability. It subsequently develops opportunities and strategies to neutralize such threats.
By working hard to dim AOR’s political ambitions only means that the NSIS has found the premier a
threat to the country’s national security based on an impartial National Security Risk Assessment.National security risk assessment involves making judgments about the relative impact and likelihood of each risk in comparison with others. This involves consideration of the impact of an event (based on economic consequences, casualties and social/structural factors); and the likelihood of this event occurring over a determined time-frame.
It could be unfortunate if the NSIS has credibly established that AOR is a threat to National Security which is defined as the ability to preserve the nation’s physical integrity and territory; to maintain its economic relations with the rest of the world on reasonable terms; to preserve its nature, institution, and governance from disruption from outside; and to control its borders.
By confirming that NSIS has marked him and wishes to edge him out, the AOR admits he poses the above mentioned threats which the NSIS is tasked to counter.
