I like the sound of this team for the following reasons:

1) Youthful progressive leadership.
2) Sobriety.
3) Respectful leaders who can work with all and respect others opinion. (Abdikadirs work on building consensus in bringing the new constitution, Musalia's pauses before making decisions like his meeting with Western leaders before ditching ODM and choosing a party). In the new constitutional dispensation a leader who can listen will be more effective than one who is a bulldozer.
4) Western Kenya Eastern Kenya Alliance.
5) Christian Muslim Alliance.

I like you thinking. This will tone down our politics. We are said to be all presidents :)

If you can call Musalia youthful then we have big problems.

the guy was annointed as MP after father died....he's been politicking all his life and all of a sudden he's an angel?

He has been Moi Vp and Kibaki gov't and I'm sure if Bifwoli was preso, he'll be there.

If you want to the country to go down the drain elect Musalia.

Really people, I'm now convinced Kenyans are silly to the core.

Musalia, Kalonzo, Raila, Uhuru, Ruto are all the same.

But Musalia is probably the worst in that group. Been spoon fed since he was a kid...What can he lead?

@Alma.....Lets face it one of the politicians you've listed will be our next president. UK, RAO and MM were all 'spoon fed' as you put it but i have to agree with @ Kusaidika, from the current group of top contenders its only MM who can bring sobriety in kenyan politics.

Doesnt surprise me. UK picks running mate from western, WR picks from coast, MM picks from northeastern. Waiting to see RAO, MK, PK and Muthengi.

Its all good for national cohesion.

"Jirongo is leaving URP because he says it lacks internal democracy. Wamalwa is heading to ODM because Musalia is joining G7. Older parties in Central Kenya are vowing to teach Uhuru and TNA a lesson due to his arrogance. Kalonzo is telling his friends that he'd rather be Raila's running mate than support Uhuru or Ruto in the next elections. Isaac Ruto is having dinner with ODM at night and singing URP by day. Ongeri says if he is not Uhuru's running mate, then he'll support Raila instead. Murungi and his 'mbus' have thrown a massive tantrum after Uhuru ignored them and went for a different 'mbus'. The original mbus owners are seeking an appointmetnt with Raila. Saitoti says it is him or nothing. Now, seriously, at what point will these guys unite to defeat Raila. We dont want Raila to have a walkover, we refuse to accept a walkover! Please unite and give us a strong opponent!"

@Mc Reggae.....wacha propaganda, as per the opinion polls we will definitely have a run-off hata without the G7, its definitely too early to form any alliance. I know in terms of strategizing ODM would want to know who they'll be up against early enough but i think almost all of them will be in the ballot paper in the first round....actually it will be a good way to test popularity before they decide on who can beat RAO.

Abdikadir is a fantastic very sober running matefor any presidential candidate and MM will be very lucky to nail him, however MM is as effective as a wet tissue and does not honestly deserve to be president.

I am starting to believe that RAO could make a reaaly good people oriented president and thats the reason the current political elite are so frightened of him, he will take away the gravy train that public officials in this country have been riding for half a century.

As I have said elsewhere, I am waiting for the implosion in G whatever! When some guys decide to promise everyone this or that, there is bound to be friction when they finally disappoint someone and they will. I think they will find themselves in the same situation they have put oar. Many will just support oar just to cut them to size. Wacha tuone

but again their are the realities of what happened in 2007/08 and the fallout that followed most mashinani guys havent forgotten it will be difficult for some candidates to even get votes in certain regions as WSR experienced in kisii

Magara was not even thinking an old woman would disrupt their stream of illusions. They were caught off-guard by the brutality of the widow’s candidness."

The implosion is coming soo brother, wait for the tsunami is reaching soon!!!!...time is running out and these people will never get the time to strategise against Raila, when the runoff comes, they will split 50-50, some behind the namba two and other behind Raila and voilla..it's over!!!

I will address myself to your concern that having been an insider Musalia has nothing more to offer. Leading a country is not like riding a bicycle. Any new leader who comes in and wants to make changes will find entrenched interests and institutions that will be resistant to changes. Having been in a system for a long time is actually an advantage. Musalia has been in Government for a long time to know exactly how it is at this moment and would therefore have the knowledge to bring about changes without catastrophic disruptions.

Let me give you examples of insiders who brought about changes in their countries. Something they would not have been able to do had they not come from inside the system. After Sani Abacha the military dictator of Nigeria died the guy who took over was a guy who had been loyal to him throughout his brutal rule a guy called Abdulsalami Abubakar. He was loyal enough not to rock the boat which gave him a platform to stand on to allow for changes in the constitution that would later bring about the changes to a democratic government in Nigeria.

Deng Xiaoping the revered leader of China responsible for the transformation of China from a third world country to a powerful industrial powerhouse was a member of the communist party throughout his life. He joined the communist party in 1921 but it was not until 1977 that he became leader. Now someone would argue what changes can you expect from someone who has been in the communist party for 56 years but had he not been in it for that long and been loyal to Mao Zedong he would not have ascended to a position that would allow him to make changes.

Back home to Kenya and Musalia. The fourth president of Kenya will be operating in an environment unlike any of the his predecessors. He will be the weakest president we have had since independence but will be very crucial to the survival, strengthening and prosperity of the institutions of government. To be effective in this role he will have to be a level headed skilled negotiator rather than someone who loves conspicuous display of power. A person of this character may be a bit boring without the charisma to pull crowds and entertain them but will also be someone that people of all backgrounds feel comfortable with. In my opinion of all the candidates out there Musalia fits this bill perfectly.
