Seen this story in the Daily Nation?

I'm not against the Chinese, but I don't understand at all our governments overdrive to give up almost everything to the Chinese firms. Even operations that would be easily used to compromise national security and citizen's confidentiality...NKT!!!

Somebody needs to advice the government accordingly.

I keep on wondering......what exactly is "Kenyan" these days. Nation is owned by Aga khan, Breweries by Diageo, Safaricom by vodafone, Telkom by Orange, even Ekwity is not "ours".

Signet (owned by KBC) was to distribute the DVB-T signal but the media houses (NTV, KTN, citzen et al) complained that they wanted competition[read piece of the pie]. They actually withdrew their content from Signet. Now that they've missed out... the wail from roof tops.

Am not convinced that a chinese firm is best suited for this though

I wonder whether we know about the NEW WORLD ORDER where ownership is no longer to those who shout but to those who matter. Some things need to be watched as they unfold. This is NWO

Media houses cannot be trusted to report objectively on their interests.e.g I watch citizen and I hate the way they try to pass promotional campaigns(which they are paid for) as news eti.."in other news the inooro caravan...blah blah"

Plus I don't think ordinary Kenyans care how the signal gets to their TV.

If they were so concerned about how the ordinary mwananchi's rights are going to be abused by the chinese they should have noticed that orange's 3g network was to be done by huawei(chinese) and complained as well.

They are just sour losers.

seriously what intelligence can they collect 90% ni telenovelas and naija movies Laughing out loudly

Well said....If they wanted to complain it should have been at the start of the process.. not at the end.

By separating signal distribution and content development, media houses were being left to do what they know best... develop content. But what do they give viewers... some recycled Naija movies and monotonous Alehandros(sic)

And I hope they can somehow configure such that ALL signals go through them, including the paid ones. Imagine replacing your DSTV,Smart, Zuku, GTV (the late), Arabsat etc decoders with only one decoder, so one gets only what he has paid for. This could cable TV cheaper as the providers will not invest in infrastructure.
