According to the U.S embassy twitter page,Ranneberger has 'twitted' that he will be making a major announcement today (see link).

http://twitter.com/usamb4reform

Do they mean business this time,or is it just empty threats.

Since Ringera has kaad Ngumu,Kibaki refuses to move, and no changes at AG,Judiciary e.t.c,Ranneberger would have to do something extra-odinary to get the attention of statehouse.

What? That he is the new president of Kenya effective today?

Come on guys. We are better than this. Kibaki,Raila et al are jokers but Rannenberger trumps them all.

He can take his big announcement and shove it.

if we only calm down and look at our predicament as Kenyans,we will realise that we do indeed have a leadership vacuum. No proper political direction,no proper civil society,no rebel forces,no possible revolutionists,no sign of law enforcement that works, court systems broken down and so much more rot!

In such circumstances, anyone is welcome to offer direction!

I dont care how proud we pretend to be as Kenyans. We deserve to be 're-colonised' if this country is to be preserved for future posterity!

Ni kweli shida iko. But if Rannenberger is your trusted source of alternative leadership,well...all the best. A little national pride ain't bad. Remember that not every lady in dire financial straits does the night shift on K-street (and with all due respect to the circumstances of the ones that do).

I laugh (& cry) when people equate chest-thumping to national pride like @adept. While we have 10 mn starving Kenyans, forget fake 'national pride'.

Criticizing Rannenberger is not mutually exclusive to criticizing our local leaders. Come on people. Let us not expose ourselves by making such simple logic look like rocket science. Read my posts again. And yes,I am proud to be a Kenyan even though I know we have huge problems to tackle. Interestingly, the folks that shout the loudest on the magnitude of Kenya's problems have never raised a finger to help solve them. Had enough with the pity parties.

don't these americans know this is africa where leaders have thick skulls and absolutely no sense of shame? the carrot trick won't work, only a big stick will send the message to our selfish 'leaders'! slap them with travel bans and freeze their corruptly gained assets abroad! hit them hard where it hurts...in their bank accounts!

it is high time rannerberger known that these politicians can and will always survive in kenya....

so banning of their visas is not going to change anything....

@mwana - never for ONE moment believe that corruption is not in western interests - indeed the incorruptible, who refuse to pimp their countries and give away its wealth, are the ones that really get shafted. If you can get hold of Zeitgeist Addendum you will see why. I cant help laughing when I hear such people pontificating....bullshit!

l don't know whether its me alone, but this guy ranneburger behaves like some colonial chief with some phobia against Africans. Who does he think he is always dictating to Kenyans what his shallow mind thinks?

Well,US might have the best interests for Kenya, but showing more concern about our welfare than Kenyans smacks off hypocracy. Its time Obama send us a more sober guy.

Please read the prophetic 'A Man Of The People' by the brilliant Chinua Achebe. Many Kenyans are like the fools who 'defend' their own simply because the THIEF is one of them. Kumbaffs!

Just b4 last elections I saw an internet link with prophetic msg to the effect that by 2010 corruption (esp in GoK corridors) will cease to be a way of life.
