A bit of perspective.
Kiunjuri joined cabinet after kamau was fired. There had always been murmurs of discontent that kamau's replacement ought to have come from nyeri. To counter that, kiunjuri's supporters would argue that his family were originally from mathira in nyeri.
Then tangatanga happened. Laikipia has a paltry 300K voters. Nyeri has 500K voters. Kiunjuri was trying - in a not so discreet way - to project himself as the senior most leader in the two counties. A powerful bargaining chip inside ruto's delicate mt kenya strategy.
His ministry got the irrigation docket as well. Those who know how government works understand that is as lucrative as a government post can get. As good as energy or infrastructure.
His sacking was a matter of when not if. I will be shocked if the itare dam shenanigans don't have him visiting kiambu road.
BTW, there were celebrations (obviously stage-managed) in nanyuki after he was fired. Great optics.
