State funds will be disbursed on equal basis to all counties!
Ukambani has ONLY 3 counties, so they get 3 counties worth of funds.

Kalanjin land whose population is the same as that of Ukambani has 6 Counties, so they get double as much as Ukambani gets.

The same scenario is replicated in the Senate since each county produces one senator.

This in essence puts Ukambani at a disadvantage in funds allocation and representation.

That in itself is enough to make the people reject a document that DISCRIMINATES against them.
It doesn’t matter that Kalonzo and co tried to get them to vote YES. The people affirmed that they are not mere sheep to be herded into what they may have certain strongly felt reservations about.

That will make the political class tread carefully.

But I must say that anybody reading this as a supposed end of Kalonzo as a preferred politician in Ukambani, he/she is mistaken.
If in the last general election, against all odds, knowing that he didn’t have a chance in hell, they voted for him almost to a man, I am sure come the next, they will replicate that.

I guess rather than castigate Ukambani Kenyans we should commend them. It's the only region that exhibited DEMOCRACY - divergence of opinions. We should be sorry/wary of the regions that voted as a block - They followed MEN/WOMEN and not issues. Block voting almost always Crystallises into WE vs THEM contests and that's excactly how Central Province Kenyans were viewed in 2007

As for Kalonzo faring badly in his own half, it was the tragedy of a MAN who drank Alvaro during the day and RED WINE at night!

On a rather different note i hazard to say here that WR ruto is the political winner in this one in view of 2012 elections - Assuming Ocampo fails to nail him -

Whoever agreed to what number the end result is 47 counties where Ukambani has 3 and that is in the constitution.

Quite lopsided in reource disbursement and voting power in parliament - higher house.

I beg to differ with those claiming Ukambani had a divergence of opinion. In my opinion, these guys are water melons from long time ago and are thus quite unreliable. They are always sitting on the fence. A good leader makes decision wrong or right and is ready to be held accountable.

I think Ukambani voters need to be commended for voting with their conscience instead of following the leaders blindly.
