IIEC chair looking very competent, makes his first results announcment. A landmark for Kenya, IIEC number/tallies actually ahead of all news station who quickly readjusted their numbers upwards.

YES: 64% (1,745,633)
NO: 36% (990,088

Whenever I look at these kind of results, I'm baffled at the way Kenyans react to polls conducted by akina Synovate.. they always tally. Yet whenever those companies release their poll results, they are castigated....

Have they ever been wrong?

In the run up to the 2007 general election.Steadman gave their last opinion poll very close to the election as too close to call and that's what actually happened. I have believed them since then.

One final improvement: IIEC, or whomever will take over from them, should post live results on their website.... but so far so great!

I hear the NOs did not believe the figures streaming in last night. They thought there was preference being given to YES zones in the reporting!

Hence the emotional response from IIEC Chair at around 10pm...
