@Kadonye. Asante sana for referring me to the other post. It has useful content and i will surely benefit from all the ideas there and definitely other people will too.

In this post, i am seeking to know experiences of transitioning from employment into business, whichever business one is undertaking.
Keep them coming.
It's amazing what you can achieve when you get rid of fear.

@ Mdosi, I've also been plannng on doing the same coz it reaches a point where you quickly realise that this rat-race is really taking you nowhere.

Kudos!!!Applause

Hi guys,
I have also benefited from this thread. I have been thinking of quitting this rat race for nine months now. I want to work online. The good thing is that the harder you work the loftier the package and vice versa. I know there are risks to take but who has ever succeeded without taking these risks? Just have a cushion which will cover you for about three months. Think of succeeding and not failing. It is all in the mind. Go my brother, go.

The problem with the rat race is that even if you win you are still a rat

I would recommend that you first try running your business while still in employment and then when it picks up, you quit and concentrate on the business. Some of my friends have quit their jobs at a leading bank to venture into business and it seems they were totally unprepared for the realities of running a business. They are really struggling out there and they are a shadow of their former selves.

I dont believe in people quiting their jobs to start businesses cause i have seen a lot of people make that mistake and they have ended up being worser than they way before risking their families in the process...i believe theres a better approach to this i.e if you want to raise poultry for egg production you can employ one of your unemployed family member as the farm manager...i mean you make him in charge with the day to day operation of the farm...then you yourself will get involved over the weekend i.e check the books of the farm....keep in touch with your creditor or investors...

hating an 8 -5 job is NOT reason enough to go into business...

when you are running your own business you will probably have to work 26 hours a day all seven days of the week..

i wish you got beyond yourself and mentioned matters entrepreneurial such as that you have spotted a niche market.. or you have developed a database of clients that you think you can convert into business other wise..

i smell trouble from a distance and in an year or so you will be redistributing your c.v. having learnt the lesson the other way..

i have seen some rats that are fatter and bigger than cats...

by the way is rabbit a type of rat..???
